Chanda Rasa Parpam: Uses, Dose, Ingredients, Side effects

Chandarasa Parpam is a classical Siddha medicine in bhasma form, manufactured by SKM Siddha & Ayurveda Company India Ltd., Erode- Tamil Nadu.  It is used in the treatment of pitta disorders.

Ingredients

Ingredients of Chandarasa Parpam:
Purified Jathilingam – Hingula – Red sulphide of mercury – 8 %
Purified Vediuppu – Suryakshara – Potassium nitrate – 24 % – It is used in the treatment of gonorrhea, diabetes, leucorrhea, etc. 
Purified Indhuppu – Saindhava lavana – Sodium chloride [impura] – 16 % – Used in the treatment of indigestion, respiratory disorders, joint disorders, obesity etc.
Purified Sottruppu – Sauvarchala lavana – Black salt – 8 %
Purified Navacharam – Navasagar – Ammonium chloride – 20 %
Purified Annapethi – Kasisa – Ferrous Sulphate – 2 % – It is used in the treatment of eye diseases, pruritis, leucoderma, dysurea, Helminthiasis, fever, splenomegaly, primary and secondary amenorrhea.
Purified Thurusu – Tuththa – Copper sulphate – 2 %
Purified Padikaram – Sphatika – Alluminium potassium sulphate – 6 % – It  is useful in abdominal pain, Pneumonia, low back ache, Dry cough, Chronic bronchial diseases, haematemesis, menorrhagia, leucoderma,Visarpa etc. Purified Pooneer – Multani mitti – Fuller’s earth – 6 %
Purified Venkaram – Tankana – Sodium biborate – 8 % – It is used in the treatment of lack of menstruation, cough, bronchitis etc.

  • Sobai [dropsy]
  • Kamalai [jaundice]
  • Kalichal [diarrhoea]
  • Uzhili kalichal [cholera]
  • Mahodaram [ascites]
  • Gunmam [18 types of peptic ulcers]
  • Uthara vayu [vatha disorder affecting the abdomen]
  • Nabi soolai noi [neuralgia of the abdomen]
  • Vettai [gonorrhoea]
  • Parangi pun [syphilitic ulcer]
  • Puttru [cancer]
  • Kurai noi [leprosy]
  • Other skin lesions
  • Neerkattu [anuria]
  • Neeradaippu [oliguria]
  • Natpatta suram [chronic fever]
  • Nadukkal [chorea]
  • Megavayu [type of vatha disorder of uro-genital tract]
  • Kiranthi [syphilis]
  • Moottu vali [joint affections]
  • Andavayu [orchitis].

Dose

Dosage & Adjuvants of Chandarasa Parpam:

  • 16.25 mg – 65 mg may be given with palm jaggery only once in the morning for 3 – 5 days according to the toleration of the patient
    or as directed by the physician.

Diet

Pathya:-
Salt free diet, milk & rice kanjee are allowed.

Side effects and package

Side effects of Chandarasa Parpam:

  • There are no recorded side effects with this medicine.
  • Sometimes it may produce loose bowels.
  • Should be taken under strict medical supervision.

Pack of 10 g & 50 g.
