Alsarex Tablet: Uses, Dose, Ingredients, Side Effects

Alsarex Tablet is a proprietary Ayurvedic medicine manufactured by Charak Pharma. It is a natural antacid & anti-ulcerant. Alsarex not only reduces the acid secretion but also strengthens the mucosal defense. Amalaki reduces hyper-secretion of stomach acid. Shatavari increases mucosal defensive factors. Yastimadhu has anti-H.pylori activity. Usheera is anti-spasmodic. Udumbara is gastro-protective.

Ingredients

Ingredients of Alsarex Tablet:

  • Amalaki [Embelica officinalis] – 50 mg
  • Yastimadhu [Glycyrrhiza glabra] – 50 mg
  • Usheera [Vetiveria zizanioides] –50 mg
  • Udumbara [Ficus racemosa] – 50 mg
  • Shatavari [Asperagus racemosus] –25 mg
  • Suthashekhara rasa – 50 mg – Sutshekhar Ras is an Ayurvedic medicine in tablet or powder form. It is used in the treatment of dyspepisa, gastritis, vomiting, abdominal pain etc.
  • Pravala pisti – 50 mg
  • Apamarga kshara – 20 mg – Apamarga Kshara is an alkaline Ayurvedic medicine, in powder form. It is prepared from an herb called Apamarga – Prickly Chaff-flower – Achyranthes aspera. The medicine is in use since the time of Sushruta, that is since thousands of years.
  • Jaharmohara pisti – 10 mg
  • Jatamamsi [Nardostachys jatamansi] – 10 mg – Also called Spikenard, atamansi is a famous Ayurvedic herb used in neuro-psychiatric diseases and skin diseases.
  • Jeeraka [Cuminum cyminum] – 10 mg
  • Kapardika bhasma – 10 mg
  • Mukta shukti bhasma – 10 mg
  • Shankha bhasma – 10 mg
  • Yashada bhasma – 10 mg
  • Chandana [Santalum album] – 25 mg – Sandalwood is a coolant, very useful in gastritis, burning sensation in hands and feet. It is also a good ingredient to include in your juice mixes, in small amounts, of course.
  • Lodhra [Symplocos racemosa] – 25 mg
  • Triphala [Embelica officinalis, Terminalia chebula, Terminalia bellerica] – 25 mg

Indication

Indication of Alsarex Tablet:

  • Gastric ulcer
  • Duodenal ulcer
  • Non-ulcer indigestion/heart burn.
  • As a co-prescription with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs to prevent mucosal erosion in stomach & duodenum.

Dose

Dosage of Alsarex Tablet:
2 tablets 2-3 times a day with a bland diet for 3-6 months.

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine or as directed by the physician.

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

Do’s, don’ts

Do’s:-

  • Eat smaller meals more frequently throughout the day.
  • Try sleeping in a chair for day time naps.
  • If you are over-weight or obese, take steps to lose weight with exercise & diet changes.
  • Check with your doctor whether any medication could be triggering your heart burn.
  • Quit smoking.
  • Avoid stress & anxiety.
  • Practice yoga & meditation.

Don’ts:-

  • Avoid eating large meals or lying down right after a meal.
  • Avoid eating certain foods such as, citrus, tomato, chocolates, mint, garlic, onions or spicy or fatty foods.
  • Avoid drinking certain beverages such as alcohol, carbonated drinks, coffee or tea.
  • Cut down smoking.
  • Avoid excess intake of pain killers, certain muscle relaxants etc.

Side effects, package

Side effects of Alsarex Tablet:

  • There are no recorded side effects with this medicine.
  • This product should be taken under medical supervision.
  • Store in a cool dry place, in an air tight container.
  • Keep out of reach and sight of children.

  1. I started using this medicine from today onward. I’m suffering from Heart burn and pain the middle chest for the past 8 years. Earlier i had taken Allopathy medicine and due to the side effects, the stone formed in Gallbladder and as per doctor advice i removed the Gall bladder 2 year before. But the Heart burn and Pain in the middle of the Chest still continue… for the past 2 years. I started taking Ayurvedic medicine for the past 2 years post surgery and it was small relief for 6 months in between. But again the pain started very strongly for the last 6 months.. Finally a doctor advised to me to take this medicine… Pls advice..

  2. I am taking after meal because I am taking avipattikar and amla churan before meal … Is this fine ?? My doctor also suggest me gulkhand in morning ..and aleo vera juice

  3. I have indigestion, bloating, irregular bowel movement problem. Can I take this tablet? Is it suitable during lactation? Kindly suggest.

  4. Am using alsarex tablets for the third week.my stool sample has mucus and it’s shiny.could this be a side effect.and can I also use antibiotics.
