Kaunch Pak – Uses, Dose, Ingredients, Side Effects

Kaunch Pak is a well known Ayurvedic aphrodisiac in herbal jam or powder form. Kaunch means seeds of Kapikacchu. It is used in male infertility treatment. It improves sperm count and quality.

Benefits, effect on dosha

Dose

Dose: 24 grams per day is the traditional dose. Nowadays, it is prescribed in 5 – 10 grams once or twice a day with milk, based on doctor’s discretion.
Sour foods are to be avoided for at least 2 hours, after taking this product.

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine or as directed by the physician.

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

Ingredients, method of preparation

Kaunch Pak ingredients, how to make –
Kapikacchu beeja – seeds of Mucuna pruriens – 1.536 kg is added with 4 times water and boiled for 12 hours. It is forcefully filtered across a clean cloth to get fiber-less clean paste.
It is dried in sunshade and made into powder.
This powder is added with 12.288 liters of milk, boiled, reduced to 3.072 liters.
To it, 1.536 kg of ghee is added and it is heated in mild heat. It is heated till the mass turns semisolid.
At the end of heating, following ingredients are added in 12 grams each.
Akallaka – Anacyclus pyrethrum
Nagara – ginger
Devapushpa – clove
Gokshura – Tribulus
Kumkuma – Saffron
Hamsapaka – Purified Cinnabar
Kubera Sara
Ghana – Cyperus rotundus
Chinika Baba – Kabab Chini – Piper cubeba
Balabeeja – Seed of Sida cordifolia
Vamshodbhava – Bambua bambos
Vanga Bhasma – Calx of purified Tin
Abhraka Bhasma – Calx of purified Mica
Draksha – raisins
Sita – sugar

Expiration date: upto one year.

Kaunch Pak side effects –
It contains herbo mineral ingredients.
This medicine should only be taken under strict medical supervision.
It is not suitable for children, pregnant and lactating mothers.
Keep out of reach and sight of children. Store in a dry clean place.
People with milk allergy may not tolerate this product.
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are diabetic. In diabetic patients, only if the blood sugar is under good control, then this medicine can be given. 

Frequently asked questions

Does it help with weight loss and muscle building?
Being nutrition rich, with sugar and raisins, it does not help in weight loss. But it is useful in improving muscle strength and muscle building.

Does it cause gastritis / acidity?
It does not cause any acidity problem.

  3. Im an allopathic Doctor. Does this powder increase beard growth…?? And after the desired effect can a person discontinue it’s use..?? Would there be any side effects either during the usage of the powder or after discontinueing the powder usage…?? Pls reply…!!

  4. I bought this ayurveda for beard growth as I have very patchy hair over my cheeks so will this be useful without any other problem as it also works in speed count. I mean is their any disadvantages of mucuna powder if I use this for a month and then stop?

  6. Hi I have heard tht Kauvh Pak have a side-effect.That it can grow unnessasary body hair also like hands,legs and chest become more hairy..plz through a light on thise….

    Also plz tell it is ok to take it two times a day after breakfast and after dinner
