A Flu-O-Cil Tablet – Benefits, Dosage, Ingredients, Side Effects

A Flu-O-Cil Tablet is a proprietary Ayurvedic medicine, manufactured by Shree Dhootapapeshwar Limited, Mumbai, India. It is used in treatment of fever, headache etc. 

Uses and effect on dosha

A Flu-O-Cil Tablet uses: It is indicated in Ayurvedic treatment of fever, headache, cough, allergic rhinitis, running nose and viral infection.

It is a potent Antipyretic. It helps to relieve Ama (a condition of indigestion), and balances Kapha,  which helps to relieve fever. It is useful in symptoms such as headache, body pain, coryza, cough developed along  with fever.

Effect on Tridosha – Balances Kapha.

Dose and duration of use

A Flu-O-Cil Tablet Dose:  1 to 2 tablets 2 times a day with honey or warm water

How long to take? It can be taken for upto 1  month, based on doctor’s advice.

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine or as directed by the physician.

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

A Flu-O-Cil Tablets Ingredients:
Each tablet contains –
Shuddha Hingul – a combination of purified Mercury and Sulphur – 23.70 mg,
Trikatu Choorna – Pepper, long pepper and ginger – 86.10 mg,
Pippalimoola – Long pepper root – Piper longum – 23.70 mg,
Shuddha Shuddha Vatsanabh – Purified Aconitum ferox – 28.70 mg,
Shuddha Tankana – Borax – 28.70 mg,
Kajjali – Purified Sulphur and Mercury are triturated to form Kajjali (black mixture, devoid of shining) – 10 mg,
Shankha Bhasma – Bhasma of Conch Shell – 5 mg,
Shuddha Dhatturbeej – Datura metel – 5 mg,
Tamra Bhasma – Bhasma prepared from Copper – 5 mg,
Trijata Choorna – A combination of cinnamon, cardamom and Cinnamon leaf 15 mg,
Lavang – Clove – Syzygium aromaticum – 0.5 mg,
Nagakeshar – Mesua ferrea – 5 mg,
Bilva – Bael (root) – Aegle marmelos – 5 mg,
Kachora – Curcuma zeodaria – 5 mg
Bhavana – Ardrak Swarasa (fresh ginger juice), Tulsi (Holy basil) Swarasa, Dhattur Swarasa, Bhringaraj Swarasa

Side effects

Side effect: 

There are no recorded side effects with this medicine.
It should be taken under strict medical supervision. Take this medicine only if your Ayurveda doctor has prescribed it to you.
Store in a cool dry place, in an air tight container, away from direct sunlight.
Use this medicine only till the prescribed time and in the prescribed dose only.
Seek your doctor’s advice for its usage during pregnancy, lactation and in children.
Keep out of reach and sight of children.
