Mrigamadasava – Uses, Dose, Side Effects And Ingredients

Mrigamadasava is a special Ayurvedic medicine in liquid form. Mrigamada means musk. It contains high percentage of self generated alcohol. As per the law, the maximum allowed packing size of Mrigamadasava is 15 ml only. It is also known by the terms Mrigamadasav, Mrigamadasavam etc.

Uses

Mrigamadasava  uses: 
It is used in the treatment of gastro-enteritis, excessive hiccups and fever of unknown origin. This is a reputed medicine in asthma, cough, sprains and nervous disorders.

In swoons and deliriums, it gives instant relief from languidness.

Traditional indication


Gastro enteritis, Cholera – Visuchika
Hiccups – Hikka
Fever due to all three Dosha imbalance – Tridoshaja Jwara

Side effects

Mrigamadasava side effects: It contains high level of self generated alcohol. Hence, in higher doses, it causes all the bad effects of alcohol.
It is not suitable for people with liver complaints, pregnant and lactating mothers and for children.
This product should be taken under strict medical supervision.

Dosage and pathya

Mrugamadasava Dose: – 5  – 10 drops or as directed by physician.

Pathya: Light pathya rules are to be followed.

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine or as directed by the physician.

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

Mrigamadasava ingredients:
Mrita sanjeevini sura – a special type of wine – 2.4 liters
Kasturi – Mrigamada – Musk – 192 g
Black pepper – 96 g
Clove – 96 g
Nutmeg – 96 g
Long pepper – 96 g
Cinnamon – 96 g.
All these ingredients are kept closed in a mud pot, with mouth closed by clay smeared cloth for seven days, later filtered and collected in air tight containers.

It is used for a period of 2-4 weeks

Kids,pregnancy and lactation

Safe for kids? No.

Pregnancy and lactation –
It is best to avoid this during pregnancy or lactation. 

Expiry date and storage

Expiry date: 10 years from the date of manufacture.
Storage: Store in a cool place in tightly closed amber coloured bottle, protect from light and moisture.
