Kofol Gargle – Ingredients, Indications, Directions for Use, Side effects

Kofol Gargle is a proprietary Ayurvedic product manufactured by Charak Pharma Pvt. Ltd. It is an herbal, non-alcoholic gargle for fast and complete relief from sore throat, pain and congestion.

Ingredients

Ingredients of Kofol Gargle:
Basil – Tulsi – Ocimum sanctum – It has anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.
Licorice – Yashti – Glycyrrhiza glabra – It has anti-microbial, expectorant and anti-allergic properties.
Belliric myrobalan – Vibitaki – Terminalia bellirica – Reduces soreness and redness of the throat.
Ginger – Shunti – Zingiber officinale – It has anti-microbial, analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties.
Pudina – Mentha piperita – It provides cooling and soothing effects.
Alum – Sphatika – Anti-septic.

Indications

Indications of Kofol Gargle:
Sore throat
Hoarseness of voice
Throat pain
Scratchy sensation in the throat
Difficulty in swallowing

Directions for use

Usage of Kofol Gargle:
Gargle with 10 to 15 ml and expel after 30 seconds, repeat 3 to 4 times daily.
Or as directed by the physician.

How long to use?
This product can be used for a period of 2 – 3 months of time, based on your doctor’s advice.

Dos and Don’ts

Dos
Steam inhalation of warm water recommended.
Avoid speaking too much to reduce strain on the throat. If required, talking in a low and soft pitch is advised.
Oil massage followed by hot fomentation over chest and back, especially in the case of chest congestion.
If symptoms persist or aggravate an expert evaluation is necessary.

Don’ts
Avoid exposure to cold wind and rain.
Avoid cold water, refrigerated food items and ice creams.
Avoid smoking, tobacco chewing and exposure to chemicals, industrial fumes, pollen and dust.
Avoid oily and spicy food.

Side effects

Side effects of Kofol Gargle:
There are no known side effects with this medicine.
However, it is best to use this medicine under medical supervision.
Store in a cool dry place, away from sunlight.
Keep out of reach and sight of children.
Seek your doctor’s advice for its usage during pregnancy, lactation period and in children.

With Homeopathy and western medicine

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

Can this medicine be continued while taking supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

With western medicines

Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic / modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take Allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then take the Ayurvedic medicine.
