Sarivadyarishta: Ingredients, Benefits, Dose, Side effects

Sarivadyarishta is an Ayurvedic medicine in liquid form, useful in the treatment of carbuncles, syphilis, rheumatic pain, skin diseases etc.

Ingredients

Ingredients of Sarivadyarishta:
Sarsaparilla – Sariva – Hemidesmus indicus – Useful in skin diseases.
Motha – Mustha – Cyperus rotundus – It relieves pain, inflammation and itching.
Lodhra – Symplocos racemosa – Useful in acne, blemishes, white and black heads etc.
Pipal twak – Ficus religiosa – It is an Ayurvedic tree used for the treatment of cough, skin diseases, improving the skin complexion, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea etc. 
Kachur – Curcuma zedoaria – It has anti fungal, analgesic, anti-allergic, anti-ulcer and anti inflammatory properties.
Padma kashta – Prunus cerasoides – It is an Ayurvedic herb used for the treatment of skin diseases, increasing the complexion and used as uterine tonic.
Patha – Cissampelos pareira – It relieves skin diseases.
Giloy – Guduchi – Tinospora cordifolia – It is a well known immuno-modulator herb used in the correction of auto-immunity. 
Sugandhabala – Valeriana wallichii – It has anti oxidant and anti microbial activities.
Ushira – Vetiveria zizanioides – It is widely used in treating fever, dysuria, burning sensation, fatigue syndrome, skin disorders etc.
White sandalwood – Shvet Chandan – Santalum album – Detoxifies blood, useful in bleeding disorders and skin diseases.
Cardamom – Ela – Elettaria cardamomum – It has anti oxidant and anti microbial activities.
Carom seed – Ajowain – Carum copticum – It possess anti fungal, anti oxidant, anti microbial, anti nociceptive and cytotoxic properties.
Tejpatra – Cinnamomum tamala
Indian senna – Sonamukhi – Cassia angustifolia – It is mainly used as a blood purifier, laxative for relieving constipation and to treat skin diseases. 
Chebulic myrobalan – Haritaki – Terminalia chebula
Munakka – Vitis vinifera – It can help to revitalize the skin.
Dhataki – Woodfordia fruticosa
Jaggery – Guda

Indications

Indications of Sarivadyarishta:
Blood infection
Burning sensation in hands, feet
Constipation, indigestion
Rheumatic pain
Scrofula – a disease with glandular swellings, probably a form of tuberculosis
Skin diseases
Syphilis
Carbuncles
Eczema, itching, ringworm

Dose

Dosage of Sarivadyarishta:
15 to 30 ml with equal quantity of water.
Or as directed by physician.

How long to use?
This product can be used for a period of 2 – 3 months of time, based on your doctor’s advice. 

Side effects, shelf life

Side effects of Sarivadyarishta:  
There are no known side effects with this medicine.
However, it is best to use this medicine under medical supervision.
Store in a cool dry place, away from sunlight.
Keep out of reach and sight of children.
Seek your doctor’s advice for it’s usage during pregnancy, lactation period and in children.

Shelf life:
10 years. Once after opening the bottle, it is better to empty it within 2 months.

With Homeopathy and western medicine


Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?

Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

Can this medicine be continued while taking supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

With western medicines

Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic / modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take Allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then take the Ayurvedic medicine.
