Haritaki Khand: Benefits, Ingredients, Dose, Side effects

Haritaki Khand is a classical Ayurvedic medicine in powder form. It is useful in the treatment of constipation, flatulence, hyper acidity, piles etc.

Ingredients

Ingredients of Haritaki Khand:
Chebulic myrobalan – Harad – Terminalia chebula – It helps to ease bowel movement, one of the complications in hemorrhoids. It helps in reducing the pile mass and reducing / stopping the bleeding.
Belleric myrobalan – Baheda – Terminalia bellerica – It has laxative action.
Gooseberry – Amla – Emblica officinalis
Nagarmotha – Mustha – Cyperus rotundus – Of all the herbs useful as absorbent, digestive and carminative, Musta is the best.
Nagkesar – Mesua ferrea – Digestive, relieves Ama Dosha.
Cinnamon – Dalchini – Cinnamomum zeylanicum – It improves digestion strength.
Coriander – Dhaniya – Coriandrum sativum – It is useful in the treatment of hemorrhoids, worm infestation, indigestion, anorexia etc.
Soya-beej – Glycine max
Clove – Laung – Syzygium aromaticum – It improves digestion strength and useful in bloating, distension of abdomen, abdominal colic pain etc.
Black pepper – Kalimirch – Piper nigrum
Carom seed – Ajwain – Carum copticum – It is used extensively in digestive diseases.
Indian senna – Sanai – Cassia angustifolia – It is mainly used as a blood purifier, laxative- for relieving constipation and to treat skin diseases.
Nisoth – Trivrit – Operculina turpethum – Of all the herbs useful in easy purgation, Operculina turpethum is the best.
Mishri – Sugar candy
Long pepper – Pippali – Piper longum – It has all qualities of a typical spice like useful in indigestion, asthma, cough etc.

Constipation
Flatulence
Hemorrhoids
Indigestion
Hyper acidity
Abdominal colic
Loss of appetite

Dose, duration of use

Dosage of Haritaki Khand:
5 – 10 g with warm water.
Or as directed by the physician.

How long to use?
This product can be used for a period of 2 – 3 months of time, based on your doctor’s advice. 

Side effects and shelf life

Side effects of Haritaki Khand:
There are no known side effects with this medicine.
However, it is best to use this medicine under medical supervision.
Store in a cool dry place, away from sunlight.
Keep out of reach and sight of children.
Seek your doctor’s advice for it’s usage during pregnancy, lactation period and in children.

Shelf life:
2 years from the date of manufacturing date.

With Homeopathy and western medicine


Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?

Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

Can this medicine be continued while taking supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

With western medicines

Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic / modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take Allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then take the Ayurvedic medicine.
