Mahasutharsana Tablets: Uses, Dose, Ingredients, Side effects

Mahasutharsana Tablet is a classical Siddha medicine in tablet form, manufactured by SKM Siddha & Ayurveda Company India Ltd., Erode – Tamil Nadu. It is used in the treatment of fevers.

Ingredients

Ingredients of Mahasutharsana Tablet:

Each 500 mg tablet contains –
Kadukkaithol – Haritaki – Chebulic myrobalan – Terminalia chebula – 2 %
Thandrikkaithol – Vibhitaki – Belleric myrobalan – Terminalia bellerica – 2 %
Nellivattral – Amalaki – Gooseberry – Emblica officinalis – 2 %
Virali manjal – Vanaharidra – Wild turmeric – Curcuma aromatica – 2 % – It is useful in the treatment of insect bite, headache, fever, cough, allergy etc.  
Maramanjal – Daruharidra – Berberis aristata – 2 %
Dry kandankathiri – Kantakari – Solanum xanthocarpum – 2 % – It is a very useful Ayurveda herb, used widely in the treatment of cough, cold, asthma and such other respiratory tract conditions.
Dry poolankizhangu – Kachora – Kaempferia galanga – 2 %
Chukku – Shunti – Ginger – Zingiber officinale – 2 %
Milagu – Maricha – Black pepper – Piper nigrum – 2 %
Thippili – Pippali – Long pepper – Piper longum – 2 %
Thippilimoolam – Pippalimoola – Long pepper root – Piper longum – 2 % – It is hot, useful in asthma, indigestion, bloating, anorexia, cold, cough, low metabolism etc.
Dry seenthilkodi – Guduchi – Giloy – Tinospora cordifolia – 2 % – It has immuno-modulatory and anti-pyretic properties.
Kadugu rohini – Katuki – Picrorhiza kurroa – 2 % – It is a powerful Ayurvedic herb used in treating mainly chronic fever, skin disorders and diabetes. 
Parpadagam – Parpata – Mullugo cerviana – 2 % – It is an effective Ayurvedic herb used in fever, high Pitta conditions such as fever, gastritis, diarrhea, excessive thirst etc.
Koraikizhangu – Musta – Nut grass – Cyperus rotundus – 2 % – It improves lactation, relieves fever, burning sensation, excessive thirst.
Dry neer brammi – Brahmi – Bacopa monnieri – 2 %
Vettiver – Usheera – Vetiveria zizanioides – 2 % – It is widely used in treating fever, dysuria, burning sensation, fatigue syndrome, skin disorders etc.
Veppampattai – Nimba – Neem – Azadirachta indica – 2 % – It has anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-viral and and anti-fungal activities.
Athimadhuram – Yastimadhu – Licorice – Glycyrrhiza glabra – 2 % – Enhances immunity by boosting levels of interferon which is the key chemical of the immune system that fights off viruses. 
Vetpalaipattai – Sweta kutaja – Wrightia tinctoria – 2 %
Omam – Yavani – Carom seed – Trachyspermum ammi – 2 % – It is used extensively in digestive diseases.

Siruthekku – Bharangi – Pygmacopremna herbacea – 2 % – It is a powerful Ayurvedic herb used in treating allergic rhinitis, asthma, fever and other inflammatory conditions.

Padikaram – Sphatika – Potassium aluminium di-sulfate – 2 %

Athividayam – Ativisha – Aconitum heterophyllum – 2 % – Of all the herbs having digestive, carminative, absorbent and Tridosha balancing properties, Ativisha is the best.
Sittramuttiver – Bala – Country mallow – Sida cordifolia – 2 %
Vaividangam – Vidanga – False black pepper – Embelia ribes – 2 % – It is widely used against intestinal worm infestation.
Kiranthi thakaram – Sankhini – Ruellia strepens – 2 %
Kodiveliver – Chitraka – Leadwort – Plumbago indica – 2 % – Of all the herbs that are carminative, digestive, useful in hemorrhoids, anti inflammatory, and anti colic, leadwort is the best.
Thevatharu – Devadaru – Cedrus deodara – 2 % – It is extremely useful in neurological disorders, asthma, pruritus, fever, infested wounds.
Seviyam – Chavya – Piper chaba – 2 % – Its root and fruit are useful in treating indigestion, abdominal colic, poisoning, anorexia etc. 
Peipudal elai – Patola – Pointed gourd – Trichosanthes cucumerina – 2 %
Kopuram thanki – Kusta – Saussurea lappa – 2 % – It is a famous Ayurvedic herb used in treating gout, skin diseases, respiratory disorders etc. 
Elavangam – Lavanga – Clove – Syzygium aromaticum – 2 %
Moonkil uppu – Vamsha – Bambusa arundinacea – 2 % – It is a plant mentioned in Ayurveda for the treatment of cough, skin diseases, wounds, digestive disorders, nausea, gynecological disorders and fever. 
Venthamarai ethal – Kamala – Nelumbo nucifera – 2 %
Nattu amukkara kizhangu – Ashwagandha – Indian ginseng – Withania somnifera – 2 % – It improves strength and immunity.
Elavanga pathiri – Twakpatra – Cinnamomum tamala – 2 %
Sathipathiri – Jatipatra – Nutmeg – Myristica fragrans – 2 %
Thalisapathiri – Talispatra – Taxus baccata – 2 %
Nilavembu – Kalamegha – Andrographis paniculata – 2 % – It is an Ayurvedic herb, used for the treatment of diseases of the liver, skin diseases, lack of appetite, fever and purification of the blood.
Velampisin – Babbula – Acacia nilotica – 2 % – It is an ayurvedic herb used in the treatment of skin diseases, dhat syndrome, bleeding disorders and to treat intestinal worms.

Indication

Indication of Mahasutharsana Tablet:

  • Anaithu surangal [all types of fevers].

Dose

Dosage & Adjuvants of Mahasutharsana Tablet:
2 – 4 tablets with water after food twice daily,
or as directed by the physician.

Side effects of Mahasutharsana Tablet:

  • There are no recorded side effects with this medicine.
  • Should be taken under medical supervision.
