Thiraathchai Rasayanam: Uses, Dose, Ingredients, Side effects

Thiraathchai Rasayanam is a classical Siddha medicine in paste/jam form manufactured by SKM Siddha & Ayurveda Company India Ltd., Erode- Tamil Nadu. It is used in the treatment of liver & splenic disorders. It is also a good tonic for pregnant women.

Ingredients

Ingredients of Thiraathchai Rasayanam:
Lavanga pattai – Twak – Cinnamon – Cinnamomum zeylanicum – 0.23 % – It improves taste and digestion strength.
Elakkai – Ela – Cardamom – Elettaria cardamomum – 0.23 % – Being an excellent anti oxidant, it is used in treating blood pressure, asthma, indigestion, dysuria etc.
Lavanga paththiri – Twakpatra – Cinnamomum tamala – 0.23 %
Sirunagapoo – Nagakesara – Mesua ferrea – 0.23 % – It is a very famous Ayurveda herb used in treating fever, vomiting, urinary tract disorders, migraine etc.
Chukku – Shunti – Ginger – Zingiber officinale – 0.23 %
Milagu – Maricha – Black pepper – Piper nigrum – 0.23 %
Thippili – Pippali – Long pepper – Piper longum – 0.23 % – It has all qualities of a typical spice like useful in indigestion, asthma, cough etc.
Jadhikkai – Jatiphala – Nutmeg – Myristica fragrans – 0.23 % – It is an aphrodisiac, digestive tonic, very useful even with external application in case of headache, useful in cough, cold, asthma. 
Jadhipaththiri – Jatipatra – Nutmeg – Myristica fragrans – 0.23 %
Dhaniya – Dhanyaka – Coriander – Coriandrum sativum – 0.23 %
Sandhanam – Chandana – Sandal wood – Santalum album – 0.23 % – It is a coolant, very useful in gastritis, burning sensation in hands and feet. 
Sarkarai – Sita – Saccharum officinarum – 42.25 %
Drakshai – Draksha – Vitis vinifera – 46.94 % – It improves nourishment.
Kumkumapoo – Kesara – Saffron – Crocus sativus – 0.23 % – It is an Ayurvedic herb used for the treatment of acne, black head, diarrhea, skin diseases, impotency and acts as immunity enhancer and memory booster. 
Nei – Ghrita – Ghee – Bos indicus – 7.98 %

Indication

Indication of Thiraathchai Rasayanam:

  • Paandu [anemia]
  • Irumal [cough]
  • Kaamalai [jaundice]
  • Malachikkal [constipation]
  • Piththathikkam [pitta disorders]
  • Tonic for pregnant women.

Dose

Dosage & Adjuvants of Thiraathchai Rasayanam:
6 – 12 g twice daily with hot milk after food.
Or as directed by the physician.

Side effects and package

Side effects of Thiraathchai Rasayanam:

  • There are no recorded side effects with this medicine.
  • Should be taken under medical supervision.
  • Seek your doctor’s advice if you are diabetic. In diabetic patients, only if the blood sugar is under good control, then this medicine can be given.
