Sarvanga Rasayanam: Uses, Dose, Ingredients, Side effects

Sarvanga Rasayanam is a classical Siddha medicine in paste/jam form manufactured by SKM Siddha & Ayurveda Company India Ltd., Erode- Tamil Nadu. It is used to treat skin diseases.

Ingredients

Ingredients of Sarvanga Rasayanam:
Parangipattai – Madhusnuhi – Smilax china – 3.15 % – It has anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic activities.
Dry kodiveliver – Chitraka – Plumbago indica – 0.79 %
Seemai amukkara – Ashwagandha – Withania somnifera – 1.70 %
Dry nilavarai – Aragwadha – Cassia angustifolia – 0.79 % – It has anti-bacterial and anti-fungal activities.
Vellai saranaiver – Gadabani – Trianthema decandra – 0.79 %
Nilapanan kizhangu – Taalamooli – Curculigo orchioides – 0.79 % – It is used for the treatment of sperm deformity, low sperm count, skin and respiratory disorders.
Dry karudan kizhangu – Sukhanasa – Corallocarpus epigaeus – 0.79 %
Dry sivanarvembu – Neeli – Indigofera asphalathoides – 0.79 %
Dry sanganver – Kundali – Azima tetracantha – 0.79 %
Purified vensivithai – Nishottra – Ipomea turpethum – 0.22 % – It is an important Ayurveda herb, used in treatment of Kapha and Pitta dominant disorders.

Nannari – Sariva – Sarsaparilla – Hemidesmus indicus – 0.79 % – It is useful in skin diseases.
Mavilangapattai – Varuna – Crataeva religiosa – 0.79 %

Kopuramthanki – Kusta – Saussurea lappa – 0.22 % – It is a famous Ayurvedic herb used in treating gout, skin diseases, respiratory disorders etc. 
Jadamanchil – Jatamamsi – Nardostachys jatamansi – 0.22 % – Because of its bitter taste and Pitta balancing quality, it is widely used to purify blood. Hence useful in skin diseases.
Thesavaram – Pippalimoola – Long pepper root – Piper longum – 0.22 %
Korai kizhangu – Musta – Cyperus rotundus – 0.22 %
Sittrarathai – Sugandhimoola – Alpinia calcarata – 0.22 %
Vaividangam – Vidanga – Embelia ribes – 0.22 %
Nattu kalnar – Abhraka bhasma – Magnesium calcium silicate – 0.22 % – It is used in Ayurvedic treatment of asthma, urinary disorders, skin diseases etc. Siruthekku – Bharangi – Pygmacopremna herbacea – 0.22 % – It is a powerful Ayurvedic herb used in treating allergic rhinitis, asthma, fever and other inflammatory conditions.
Purified athiratham – Shuddha Haratala – Arsenic trisulphide – 0.22 % – It is useful in skin diseases with itching, cough, cold, bronchitis, asthma, syphilis, sinus, boils etc.
Kalmatham – Shilajatu – Earthy exudates – 0.22 %
Kumkumapoo – Kesara – Saffron – Crocus sativus – 0.04 % – It is an Ayurvedic herb used for the treatment of acne, black head, diarrhea, skin diseases, impotency and acts as immunity enhancer and memory booster. 
Kasthuri vaippu – Kasturi – Musk – Moschus moschiferus – 0.04 %
Korosanai vaippu – Bos indicus – 0.04 %
Sarkkarai – Sita – Saccharum officinarum – 40.54 %

Indication

Indication of Sarvanga Rasayanam:

  • All types of karappan [eczema & other allergic skin disorders]
  • Kuttam [group of skin disorders]
  • Kalanjaga padai [psoriasis]
  • Sori [any itchy patches].

Dose

Dosage & Adjuvants of Sarvanga Rasayanam:
5 g with milk after food twice daily,
or as directed by the physician.

Side effects and package

Side effects of Sarvanga Rasayanam:

  • There are no recorded side effects with this medicine.
  • Should be taken under medical supervision.
  • Seek your doctor’s advice if you are diabetic. In diabetic patients, only if the blood sugar is under good control, then this medicine can be given.
