Anda Thailam: Uses, Dose, Ingredients, Side effects

Anda Thailam is a classical Siddha medicine in oil form manufactured by SKM Siddha & Ayurveda Company India Ltd., Erode- Tamil Nadu. It is used for febrile convulsions in infants & children.

Ingredients

Ingredients of Anda Thailam:
Kozhi muttaiyin manjal karu – Chicken egg yolk – Gallus domesticus – q.s.

Indication

Indication of Anda Thailam:
Given in diseases of the children like –

  • Sanni [delirium]
  • Maandham [fever with sluggishness]
  • Kuzhandhaigalin valippugal [convulsions of children]
  • Pakka vadham [paralysis].

Application on feet

Oil application over feet

Precaution if you apply this oil over feet:
If you apply this oil on feet, make sure to wash off thoroughly with water or wipe off with cloth. The oil can make you slippery while walking.
After applying, make sure there are no oil spills on the floor. This can make the floor slippery.

Dose

Dosage & Adjuvants of Anda Thailam:

  • 1 – 4 drops applied directly to the tongue or given with breast milk or cow’s milk, twice daily.
  • Given with breast milk/cow’s milk in delirium, fever and convulsions in children.
  • In paralysis & paralysis of the tongue in children, applied directly to the tongue twice a day.

Side effects and package

Side effects of Anda Thailam:

  • There are no recorded side effects with this medicine.
  • Should be taken under strict medical supervision.

Presentation:

Bottle of 10 ml, 30 ml, & 100 ml.

During pregnancy, lactation

If you were using this oil before pregnancy without any allergic reaction, you can continue using this oil even during pregnancy.
If you have not used this product before and wish to use it during pregnancy, better to consult a doctor because it can cause skin allergy in some rare cases.
It is generally considered as safe to use during lactation, however consult your doctor for the right advice.

Can this product be applied after steam therapy?
No. Oil is best applied before steam therapy. This is as per basic Ayurvedic principles.
