Velli Parpam: Uses, Dose, Ingredients, Side effects

Velli Parpam is a classical Siddha medicine in bhasma form, manufactured by SKM Siddha & Ayurveda Company India Ltd., Erode- Tamil Nadu. It is used in the treatment of uro-genital disorders, piles & respiratory disorders.

Ingredients

Ingredients of Velli Parpam:
Vellipodi – Shuddha rajata – Elemental silver – 38 % – It relieves burning sensation, used in treating menorrhagia, memory loss, dizziness, excessive thirst, diabetes, cachexia, tissue wasting, urinary disorders, alcoholism, poisoning, fever, uterine disorder, epilepsy etc.
Muttao odu – Kukkutanda twak – Gallus domesticus – 38 % – It is useful to improve bone density, since it is a good source of calcium. It is used to treat leucorrhea (vaginal white discharge) in women.
Aritharam – Haratala – Arsenic trisulphide – 12 % – It is useful in skin diseases with itching, cough, cold, bronchitis, asthma, syphilis, sinus, boils etc.
Veeram – Mercuric sublimate – 12 %
Mullukeerai saaru – Tanduliyaka – Amaranthus spinosus q.s.

  • Thane vindhu eliyaral
  • Vindhu nashtam [spermatorrhoea]
  • Sukkila mega
  • Vellai [leucorrhoea]
  • Vettai [gonorrhoea]
  • Karuppai noigal [uterine disorders]
  • Kshayam [emaciation/TB]
  • Kasam/irumal [cough]
  • Raththa kasam/raththa irumal [haemoptysis]
  • Soolai [colic]
  • Moolam [piles/hemorrhoids]
  • Mega noigal
  • Iduppu vali [low back pain].

Dose

Dosage & Adjuvants of Velli Parpam:
50 – 100 mg with butter milk, milk or ghee twice daily,
or as directed by the physician.

Diet

Pathya:-
Avoid salt, tamarind, sour diet, alcohol, pagal [bitter gourd], agathi [sasban], non-veg foods & tobacco.

  • There are no recorded side effects with this medicine.
  • Should be taken under strict medical supervision.
