Singi Chunnam: Uses, Dose, Ingredients, Side effects

Singi Chunnam is a classical Siddha medicine in bhasma form, manufactured by SKM Siddha & Ayurveda Company India Ltd., Erode- Tamil Nadu. It is used in the treatment of vatha disorders.

Ingredients of Singi Chunnam:
Mirudarsingi – Mriddarashringi – Lead monoxide – 100 %
Processed in –
Thiruneetru pachchilai saaru – Thulasi swarasa – Holy basil – Ocimum basilicum – q.s. – It has immunomodulatory activity.

Indication

Indication of Singi Chunnam:

  • It is one of the kayakalpa drug.
  • It makes the body strong, gives vitality & vigour and also gives the body a good physique & beauty.
  • Medicinally it is very good against 80 types of vadha diseases such as keel vaadham [arthritis], aamavadham [rheumatism], kudhikaal vadham [calcaneal inflammation], peraasan narambu vali [sciatica], iduppu vali [hip pain], mudhukuvali [lumbago] etc.
  • Post viral fever, when the patient complains of body, muscle and joint pains
    Bursitis,  
  • Bursitis trochanterica,
  • Shoulder dislocation pain

It is useful to promote strength of bones and joints.
It acts as an excellent anti inflammatory and analgesic mediicne.
It is used for the treatment of ankle pain, ankle twitch, slipped disc, sprain, back spasm, backache, back injury, stiffness of muscles, Coccyx pain

Partially useful in (other medications might be required)
Avascular necrosis
Sensory-neural hearing loss
Hypothyroidism
Ankylosing spondylitis
Pain related to SLE

Diet

Avoid deep fried foods, heavy-to-digest non veg foods, fast foods and aerated drinks, smoking and excess alcohol. These can irritate stomach and intestinal lining. These also may increase Tridosha.

Dose

Dosage & Adjuvants of Singi Chunnam:

  • 25 – 50 mg twice daily with cow’s ghee after food for 40 days.
    Or as directed by the physician.
  • Can also be administered with other adjuvants such as honey, milk or Athirshta rasayanam [a prepared medicine] etc.

Diet

Pathya:-
Avoid salt, tamarind, sour diet, alcohol, pagal [bitter gourd], agathi [sasban], non-veg foods & tobacco.

Side effects of Singi Chunnam:

  • There are no recorded side effects with this medicine.
  • Should be taken under strict medical supervision.
