Nilapoosani Legiyam Uses, Dose, Ingredients, Side effects

Nilapoosani Legiyam is a classical Siddha medicine in paste/jam form manufactured by SKM Siddha & Ayurveda Company India Ltd., Erode- Tamil Nadu. It is used in the treatment of respiratory disorders.

Ingredients

Ingredients of Nilapoosani Legiyam:
Nattu amukkara kizhangu – Ashwagandha – Indian ginseng – Withania somnifera – 4.20 % – It improves strength and immunity.
Nannari – Sariva – Indian sarsaparilla – Hemidesmus indicus – 4.20 %
Seeragam – Jeeraka – Cumin – Cuminum cyminum – 4.20 %
Parangipattai – Madhusnuhi – Smilax china – 4.20 % – It has anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic and anti-oxidant activities.
Elam arisi – Ela – Cardamom – Elettaria cardamomum – 1.35 % – It balances Kapha dosha and useful in productive cough, asthma etc.
Karkandu – Sita – Saccharum officinarum – 35.40 %
Nei – Ghrita – Ghee – Bos indicus – 17.30 %
Thein – Madhu – Honey – Apis mellifera – 26.12 % – Balances Kapha dosha and useful in respiratory diseases.
Thiratchi – Draksha – Vitis vinifera – 3 % – Useful in cough, cold, asthma, chronic respiratory diseases etc.

Indication

Indication of Nilapoosani Legiyam:

  • Thummal [sneezing]
  • Thodar thummal [continuous sneezing]
  • All types of Peenisam [sinusitis]
  • Eraippu [bronchial asthma]
  • Natpatta erumal [allergic bronchitis]
  • Swasa pathi ovvamai noikal [allergic respiratory disorders].

Dose

Dosage & Adjuvants of Nilapoosani Legiyam:

  • Children below 10 years – 2 g with milk after food twice daily.
  • Adults – 5 g with milk after food twice daily.
  • Or as directed by the physician.

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine or as directed by the physician.

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

Side effects of Nilapoosani Legiyam:

  • There are no recorded side effects with this medicine.
  • Should be taken under medical supervision.
  • Seek your doctor’s advice if you are diabetic. In diabetic patients, only if the blood sugar is under good control, then this medicine can be given.
