Kadukkai Legiyam Uses, Dose, Ingredients, Side effects

Kadukkai Legiyam is a classical Siddha medicine in paste/jam form manufactured by SKM Siddha & Ayurveda Company India Ltd., Erode- Tamil Nadu. It is used to treat excessive body heat due to pita & urinary tract disorders.

Ingredients

Ingredients of Kadukkai Legiyam:
Kadukkaithol – Haritaki – Chebulic myrobalan – Terminalia chebula – 7.48 % – It promotes bowel movement and improves digestion strength.
Purified sivathaiver – Trivrit – Operculina turpethum – 1.50 % – Of all the herbs useful in easy purgation, Operculina turpethum is the best.
Kadugu rohini – Katukarohini – Picrorrhiza kurroa – 0.21 % – It is a powerful Ayurvedic herb used in treating mainly chronic fever, skin disorders and diabetes.
Lavangam – Lavanga – Clove – Syzygium aromaticum – 0.21 %
Sirunagapoo – Nagakesara – Mesua ferrea – 0.21 % – It is a very famous Ayurveda herb used in treating fever, vomiting, urinary tract disorders, migraine etc.
Valuluvai arishi – Jyothishmathi – Celastrus paniculatus – 0.21 % Kadukkaipoo – Rhus succedena – 0.21 %
Karunseeragam – Krishna jeeraka – Black caraway – Nigella sativa – 0.21 % – It is good for eyes, bloating, vomiting, gaseous distension of abdomen etc. 
Milagu – Maricha – Black pepper – Piper nigrum – 0.21 %
Thandrikkai thol – Vibhitaki – Belleric myrobalan – Terminalia bellerica – 0.21 %
Kothumalli thol – Dhanyaka – Coriander – Coriandrum sativum – 0.21 % – It improves taste and digestion strength.
Thalisapathiri – Talispatra – Taxus baccata – 0.21 % – It is aromatic, appetizer, expectorant and mildly laxative.
Karisalai – Peetabringa – Wedelia calendulacea – 1.50 %
Vallarai – Mandookaparni – Centella asiatica – 1.50 %
Puliyarai – Ashmanthaka – Oxalis corniculata – 1.50 %
Nilavarai – Swarnapathri – Indian senna – Cassia angustifolia – 1.50 % – It is mainly used as a blood purifier, laxative- for relieving constipation and to treat skin diseases.
Pioneer – Ultani mitti – Fullers earth – 0.11 %

Indication of Kadukkai Legiyam:

  • Siruneerkattu [anuria & oliguria]
  • Malakattu [constipation]
  • Kolaikattu [phlegm formation in the chest due to allergic disorders & respiratory infections]
  • Ushnavayu [type of vatha disorder]
  • Megakanthal [burning sensation of body]
  • Ullankal erichal [burning sensation of the soles]
  • Kulai erichal [burning sensation of the stomach]
  • Kudal purattal [indigestion]
  • Moolachoodu [pitha disorder effect in the lower intestinal tract]
  • Utchoodu [increased body heat]
  • Erumal
  • Pugaichal [cough]
  • Varatchi [dryness]
  • Sogai [anemia].

Dose

Dosage & Adjuvants of Kadukkai Legiyam:

5 – 12 g with milk after food twice daily. Adjust the dosage according to the body constitution or as directed by the physician.

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine or as directed by the physician.

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

Side effects of Kadukkai Legiyam:

  • There are no recorded side effects with this medicine.
  • Should be taken under medical supervision.
  • Seek your doctor’s advice if you are diabetic. In diabetic patients, only if the blood sugar is under good control, then this medicine can be given.
