Inji Legiyam Uses, Dose, Ingredients, Side effects

Inji Legiyam is a classical Siddha medicine in paste/jam form manufactured by SKM Siddha & Ayurveda Company India Ltd., Erode – Tamil Nadu. It is used for treating gastro-intestinal disorders.

Agaththiyar Vaidhya Raththina Churukkam.
Siddha Vaidhiya Thirattu.

Ingredients

Ingredients of Inji Legiyam:
Panai vellam – Taala – Borassus flabellifer – 47.24 %
Chukku – Shunti – Ginger – Zingiber officinale – 3.14 % – Useful in anorexia, indigestion, constipation etc.
Milagu – Maricha – Black pepper – Piper nigrum – 3.14 % – Used in the treatment of worm infestation, bloating, anorexia etc.
Thippili – Pippali – Long pepper – Piper longum – 3.14 %
Seeragam – Jeeraka – Cumin – Cuminum cyminum – 3.14 % – It is very good in treating digestive track disorders.
Elakkai – Ela – Cardamom – Elettaria cardamomum – 3.14 %
Vaividangam – Vidanga – Embelia ribes – 3.14 %
Lavangam – Lavanga – Clove – Syzygium aromaticum – 3.14 % – It improves taste and digestion power. Useful in the treatment of abdominal colic pain, bloating, gaseous distension of abdomen etc.
Thaleesapaththiri – Thaalisa patra – Abies spectabilis – 3.14 % – It is aromatic, appetiser, expectorant and mildly laxative.
Pasu nei – Go ghrita – Cows ghee – Bos indicus – 15.74 % – It improves digestion strength.
Then – Madhu – Honey – Apis mellifera – 11.81 %

Elumichchampazha saaru – Jambeera – Citrus acida – q.s. – Useful in the treatment of anorexia, low digestion strength, constipation, abdominal colic etc.
Pasum paal – Go dugdha – Cows milk – Bos indicus – q.s.

Indication

Indication of Inji Legiyam:

  • Pasiyinmai [loss of appetite/dyspepsia]
  • Ruchiyinmai [anorexia/tastelessness]
  • Seriyamai/ajeeranam [indigestion]
  • Vaandhi [vomiting/emesis]
  • Porumal [flatulence]
  • Valippu [convulsions]
  • Piththam [biliousness]
  • Soolai [colic]
  • Gunmum [gastritis]
  • Vayu [nervous disorders].

Dose

Dosage & Adjuvants of Inji Legiyam:
5 – 10 g with water after food twice daily.
Or as directed by the physician.

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine or as directed by the physician.

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

Side effects of Inji Legiyam:

  • There are no recorded side effects with this medicine.
  • Should be taken under medical supervision.
  • Seek your doctor’s advice if you are diabetic. In diabetic patients, only if the blood sugar is under good control, then this medicine can be given.
