Deepavali Legiyam Uses, Dose, Ingredients, Side effects

Deepavali Legiyam is a classical Siddha medicine in paste/jam form manufactured by SKM Siddha & Ayurveda Company India Ltd., Erode- Tamil Nadu. It is used for treating digestion impairment.

Ingredients

Ingredients of Deepavali Legiyam:
Chukku – Shunti – Ginger – Zingiber officinale – 5 % – It improves digestion strength and taste.
Sathakuppai – Satahva – Dill seed – Anethum sowa – 3 % – It is mainly used in digestive disorders.
Malli – Dhanyaka – Coriander – Coriandrum sativum – 2 % – It is used in the treatment of worm infestation, anorexia, diarrhea, hemorrhoids etc.
Vaividangam – Vidanga – Embelia ribes – 0.5 % – It is widely used against intestinal worm infestation.
Sirunagapoo – Nagakesara – Mesua ferrea – 0.5 %
Karunseeragam – Krishna jeeraka – Black caraway – Nigella sativa – 0.5 %
Milagu – Maricha – Black pepper – Piper nigrum – 0.5 %
Seeragam – Jeeraka – Cumin – Cuminum cyminum – 0.5 % – Useful in bloating, gaseous distension of abdomen, worm infestation etc.
Elakkai – Ela – Cardamom – Elettaria cardamomum – 0.5 %
Thippili – Pippali – Long pepper – Piper longum – 0.5 % – Useful in indigestion, relieves Ama.
Elavangapattai – Twak – Cinnamon – Cinnamomum zeylanicum – 0.5 % – Useful in anorexia, indigestion, worm infestation etc.
Korai kizhangu – Musta – Cyperus rotundus – 0.5 % – Of all the herbs useful as absorbent, digestive and carminative, Musta is the best.
Aska – Sita – Saccharum officinarum – 48 %
Nei – Go ghrita – Cows ghee – Bos indicus – 20 % – It increases digestion strength.
Thein – Madhu – Honey – Apis mellifera 17 %

Indication

Indication of Deepavali Legiyam:

  • Porumal [flatulence]
  • Ajeeranam [indigestion]
  • Pulieppam [belching]
  • All types of seeraga kolarugal [digestive disorders].

Dose

Dosage & Adjuvants of Deepavali Legiyam:
5 g with water after food twice daily.
Or as directed by the physician.

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine or as directed by the physician.

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

Side effects of Deepavali Legiyam:

  • Thera are no recorded side effects with this medicine.
  • Should be taken under medical supervision.
  • Seek your doctor’s advice if you are diabetic. In diabetic patients, only if the blood sugar is under good control, then this medicine can be given.
