Gandhaka Chooranam is a classical Siddha medicine in powder form manufactured by SKM Siddha & Ayurveda Company India Ltd., Erode- Tamil Nadu. It is used to treat various skin disorders.

Ingredients

Ingredients of Gandhaka Chooranam:
Gandhagam – Shuddha gandhaka – Elemental Sulphur – 13.98 %
Elakkai – Ela – Cardamom – Elettaria cardamomum – 13.98 %
Vaividangam – Vidanga – False black pepper – Embelia ribes – 13.98 % – It detoxifies blood, hence useful in wide range of skin diseases.
Chukku – Shunti – Ginger – Zingiber officinale – 13.98 % – It has analgesic and anti-inflammatory activities.
Milagu – Maricha – Black pepper – Piper nigrum – 13.98 % – It has anti-oxidant and anti-bacterial activities.
Thippili – Pippali – Long pepper – Piper longum – 13.98 %
Parangipatti – Madhusnuhi – Smilax china – 13.98 % – It has anti-allergic, anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory activities.
Sivappu – Chithiramoolaver pattai – Chitraka – Plumbago rosea – 1.40 %
Seeragam – Jeeraka – Cumin – Cuminum cyminum – 0.74 %

Indication

Indication of Gandhaka Chooranam, Tablets:

  • Thol karuniram adaithal [blackening of skin]
  • Karappan [erysipelas, eczema]
  • Nagaththil thonrum karumpulli [black spot formation in nails] etc.

Dose

Dosage & Adjuvants of Gandhaka Chooranam:

1 – 2 g with milk after food 2 – 3 times a day.
Or as directed by the physician.

Dosage & Adjuvants of Gandhaka Choorana Tablet:

2 tablets with milk after food twice daily.
Or as directed by the physician.

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine or as directed by the physician.

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.
