Sukumaaraasavam Dose, Uses, Ingredients and Side Effects

Sukumara asava is an Ayurvedic medicine manufactured by Nagarjuna Ayurvedic Group. It is used in the treatment of constipation, diseases of abdomen, flatulence, abscess, edema etc.

Ingredients

Ingredients of Sukumaara Asava:
Each 25 ml is prepared out of:
Punarnava – Boerhavia diffusa – 0.143 g – It is one of the very important anti inflammatory medicinal herbs. It is well known for its diuretic and swelling reducing activities.
Bilwa – Bael – Aegle marmelos – 0.014 g
Shyonaka – Oroxylum indicum – 0.014 g
Gambhari – Gmelina arborea – 0.014 g – It relieves pain and swelling.
Patala – Stereospermum suaveolens – 0.014 g
Agnimantha – Clerodendrum phlomidis – 0.014 g
Shalaparni – Desmodium gangeticum – 0.014 g
Prushniparni – Uraria picta – 0.014 g
Bruhati – Solanum indicum – 0.014 g – It has carminative, digestive, anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties.
Bruhati bheda – 0.014 g
Gokshura – Tribulus terrestris – 0.014 g
Payasya – Ipomoea paniculata – 0.014 g
Ashwagandha – Indian ginseng – Withania somnifera – 0.014 g – It improves immunity and strength.
Eranda – Castor – Ricinus communis – 0.014 g – It relieves bloating, gas distension in abdomen, constipation, spleen disorders and hernia.
Shatavari – Asparagus racemosus – 0.014 g
Dharbha moola – Imperata cylindrica – 0.014 g
Kusha moola – Desmostachya bipinnata – 0.014 g
Shara moola – Saccharum munja – 0.014 g
Kaasha moola – Saccharum spontaneum – 0.014 g
Ikshu moola – Saccharum officinarum – 0.014 g
Potagala moola – Typha elephantina – 0.014 g
Pippali – Long pepper – Piper longum – 0.003 g – It improves digestion strength.
Pippalimoola – Long pepper root – Piper longum – 0.003 g
Saindhava lavana – Rock salt – 0.003 g – It relieves constipation, bloating.
Yashti – Licorice – Glycyrrhiza glabra – 0.003 g
Madhuka – Madhuca longifolia – 0.003 g
Mrudweeka – Vitis vinfera – 0.003 g – Helps in easy bowel movement.
Yavani – Trachyspermum ammi – 0.003 g
Nagara – Ginger – Zingiber officinarum – 0.003 g – Improves digestion strength, taste and relieves gas, fullness of abdomen, bloating, constipation.
Guda – Jaggery – 4.529 g
Makshika – Honey – 2.265 g
Dhataki pushpa – Woodfordia fruiticosa – 0.453 g

Indications

Indications of Sukumaara Asava:
Vibandha – constipation
Udara roga – diseases of abdomen
Gulma – chronic flatulence, abdominal tumor
Pleeha roga – diseases of spleen
Vidradhi – abscess
Shopha – edema
Yoni shula – pain in female genitalia
Arsha – piles
Vrddhi – hernia

Dose, duration of use

Dose:
25 ml thrice daily, after food.
Or as directed by the physician.

How long to use?
This product can be used for a period of 2 – 3 months of time, based on your doctor’s advice.

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine.

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

Side effects, precautions

Side effects of Sukumaara Asava:
There are no known side effects with this medicine.
However, it is best to use this medicine under medical supervision.
Store in a cool dry place, away from sunlight.
Keep out of reach and sight of children.                                               
Seek your doctor’s advice for its usage during pregnancy, lactation period and in children.
