Septilin Syrup Uses, Ingredients, Dose, Side Effects

Septilin Syrup is a proprietary Ayurvedic medicine manufactured by The Himalaya Drug Company. It is used in the treatment of skin and soft tissue infections.

Septilin Syrup Ingredients

Each 5 ml of Septilin syrup contains:
Powder of Guggulu – Balsamodendron mukul – 80 mg – It has anti-inflammatory action.
Extracts of, Maharasnadi quath – Ayurvedic medicine – 30 mg
Manjishta – Indian madder – Rubia cordifolia – 15 mg – It is a famous herb for blood detoxification.
Guduchi – Giloy – Tinospora cordifolia – 14 mg – It is a well known immuno-modulatory herb.
Trikatu – 13 mg
Pippali – Long pepper – Piper longum – It has immuno-stimulant, anti-mycobacterial and anti-microbial activities.
Maricha – Black pepper – Piper nigrum
Shunti – Ginger – Zingiber officinalis – Balances Kapha, useful in productive cough.
Kushta – Saussurea lappa – 13 mg – Useful in asthma, COPD and other respiratory diseases.
Amalaki – Gooseberry – Emblica officinalis – 8 mg
Yashtimadhu – Licorice – Glycyrrhiza glabra – 6 mg – Good expectorant, expels phlegm from lungs, heals respiratory diseases.

Indications

As an immunomodulator in the management of:
Upper respiratory tract infections,
Lower respiratory tract infections,
Allergic disorders of the upper respiratory tract,
skin and soft tissue infections,
Dental and periodontal infections,
Ocular infections,
Bone and joint infections,
Urinary tract infections,
for early recovery in postoperative conditions, 
to reduce recurrence in infection prone individuals,
As an Adjuvant to anti- infective therapy,
Resistance to Antibiotic therapy.

Dosage

Infants: ½ to 1 teaspoonful three times daily.
Adults: 2 teaspoonfuls three times daily.
Or as directed by the physician.

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

Septilin Syrup Side effects

There are no known side effects with this medicine.
However, it is best to use this medicine under medical supervision.
Store in a cool dry place, away from sunlight.
Keep out of reach and sight of children.  
Seek your doctor’s advice for its usage during pregnancy.
This product can be safely used during lactation period and in children for a limited period of few weeks time.
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are diabetic. In diabetic patients, only if the blood sugar is under good control, then this medicine can be given.

How long to use?
This product can be used for a period of 2 – 3 months of time, based on your doctor’s advice.
