Pancha Mridweeka Rasam: Uses, Ingredients, Dose, Side Effects

Pancha Mridweeka Rasam is a proprietary Ayurvedic medicine manufactured by Santhigiri Pharmaceuticals. It is used in the treatment of diabetes mellitus and cholesterol.

Indication of Panchamridweeka Rasam

Diabetes mellitus
Hyper-lipidaemia

Dosage

15 – 30 ml twice a day,
or as directed by the physician.

How long to use?
This product can be used for a period of 2 – 3 months of time, based on your doctor’s advice. 

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

Ingredients

Draksha – Raisin – Vitis vinifera –  4 g – Study concluded that consuming grapefruit juice, rich in flavanone may improve arterial function, compared to a flavanone-free drink.
Alambusha – Biophytum sensitivum – 4 g
Daruharidra – Coscinium fenestratum – 0.22 g – It has hypoglycemic activity.
Saptarangi – Salacia reticulata –  0.22 g – It has anti-diabetic, anti-obesity and anti-hyperlipidemic effects.
Vidanga – False black pepper – Embelia ribes – 20 mg – Study concluded the anti-dyslipidemic action of Vidanga.
Jatiphala – Nutmeg – Myristica fragrans – 20 mg – Useful in diabetes.
Kharjura – Date palm – Phoenix dactylifera – 1.2 g – Acts as cardiac tonic.
Tamalapatra – Cinnamomum tamala – 20 mg
Jambu – Jamun – Eugenia jambolana – 0.22 g – It is specially beneficial in controlling blood sugar levels in diabetics.
Ela – Cardamom – Elettaria cardamomum – 20 mg
Twak – Cinnamon – Cinnamomum zeylanicum – 20 mg – Cinnamon improves digestion strength, is useful in diabetes, high cholesterol.
Nagakeshara – Mesua ferrea – 20 mg
Priyangu – Aglaia elaeagnoidea – 20 mg
Maricha – Black pepper – Piper nigrum – 20 mg – It has anti-oxidant and hepato-protective action and useful in cardiac disorders.
Pippali – Long pepper – Piper longum – 20 mg
Lodhra – Symplocos racemosa – 68 mg
Dhataki – Woodfordia fruticosa – 0.27 g
Guda – Jaggery – 0.8 g

Side effects of Panchamridweeka Rasam

There are no known side effects with this medicine.
However, it is best to use this medicine under medical supervision.
Store in a cool dry place, away from sunlight.
Keep out of reach and sight of children.                                                         
Seek your doctor’s advice for its usage during pregnancy.
This product can be safely used during lactation period and in children for a limited period of few weeks time.
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are diabetic. In diabetic patients, only if the blood sugar is under good control, then this medicine can be given.
