Ovoutoline Syrup: Uses, Ingredients, Dose, Side Effects

Ovoutoline Syrup is a proprietary Ayurvedic medicine manufactured by Zandu Pharmaceuticals. It is the perfect uterine tonic.

Benefits of Ovoutoline Syrup

By virtue of its marked anti-oxytocic, anti-inflammatory and anti-spasmodic action corrects gynecological disorders.
Reduces severity of uterine contractions & prevents excessive menstrual loss.
Ideal for the treatment of excessive vaginal discharge of varied aetiology.
Provides mild tranquillizing action which ameliorates various menopausal symptoms.

Indications

Dysmenorrhea
Leucorrhoea
Menorrhagia
Irregular menstruation
Excessive vaginal discharge
Post-menopausal symptoms
Habitual abortion & protection of pregnancy
Endometritis
Salphingitis
Concomitant back ache and weakness.

Dosage

1 – 2 tsp thrice a day,
or as directed by the physician.

How long to use?
This product can be used for a period of 2 – 3 months of time, based on your doctor’s advice. 

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

Ingredients

Each 5 ml of syrup contains aqueous extract of –
Asoka – Saraca indica – 250 mg – It is an important Ayurvedic herb used mainly in bleeding gynaecological conditions.
Lodhra – Symplocos racemosa – 250 mg – It has analgesic effect and useful in bleeding disorders such as bleeding hemorrhoids, menorrhagia etc.
Guduchi – Giloy – Tinospora cordifolia – 100 mg
Shatavari – Asparagus racemosus – 100 mg – Useful in treating male and female infertility, bleeding disorders.
Tagara – Valeriana wallichii – 50 mg – It has anti-microbial action.
Kutaja – Holarrhena antidysentrica – 50 mg – Useful in bleeding disorders.
Yastimadhu – Licorice – Glycyrrhiza glabra – 300 mg

Side effects of Ovoutoline Syrup

There are no known side effects with this medicine.
However, it is best to use this medicine under medical supervision.
Store in a cool dry place, away from sunlight.
Keep out of reach and sight of children.                                                        
Seek your doctor’s advice for its usage during pregnancy, lactation period and in children.
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are diabetic. In diabetic patients, only if the blood sugar is under good control, then this medicine can be given.
