Nityam Churna: Uses, Ingredients, Dose, Side Effects

Churna is a proprietary Ayurvedic medicine manufactured by Zandu Pharmaceuticals Pvt Ltd. It is a revolutionary formulation enriched with 7 powerful laxative herbs. It gently cleanses, lubricates and moisturizes intestinal walls ensuring regular bowel movements.

It relieves from chronic constipation and associated symptoms. It also eases bowel evacuation in painful conditions of piles and fissures.
It is herbal laxative, safe, pleasant tasting and non-habit forming.

Indication of Nityam Churna

Chronic constipation
& associated symptoms like –
flatulence,
nausea and acidity.
For easy bowel evacuation in painful conditions of piles and fissures.

Dosage

Add ½ – 2 tsp as per requirement of Nityam churna in a glass of warm water, stir gently & consume at bed time. Or as directed by the physician. Individual results may vary, dose may be adjusted accordingly.

How long to use? This product can be used for a period of 2 – 3 months of time, based on your doctor’s advice.

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

Ingredients

Each 100 g contains –
Amalaki – Gooseberry – Embelica officinalis – 3 g – Supports healthy metabolism, digestion and elimination.
Haritaki – Chebulic myrobalan – Terminalia chebula – 3 g – It helps to ease bowel movements, one of the complications in hemorrhoids. It helps in reducing the pile mass and reducing/stopping the bleeding.
Vibhitaki – Chebulic myrobalan – Terminalia bellerica – 3 g – It has laxative action.
Yastimadhu – Licorice – Glycyrrhiza glabra – 5 g – It is mild laxative, useful in relieving swelling and wounds.
Shatapushpa – Dill seed – Foeniculum vulgare – 9 g – It is used in the enema therapy.
Swarnapatri – Indian senna – Cassia angustifolia – 50 g – It has laxative action.
Vamsha – Bamboo – Bambusa arundinacea – q.s. – It has analgesic and anti-inflammatory activities.
Eranda taila – Castor oil – Ricinus communis – 1 g – It is the best oil for purgation.
Sanchal  – Sauvarchala Lavana – Rock salt – 18 g – It relieves constipation. Excipients – q.s.

Side effects of Nityam Churna

There are no known side effects with this medicine. However, it is best to use this medicine under medical supervision. Store in a cool dry place, away from sunlight. Keep out of reach and sight of children. Seek your doctor’s advice for its usage during pregnancy. This product can be safely used during lactation period and in children for a limited period of few weeks time.

Shelf life: 2 years from the date of manufacturing (This applies if the Churna jar is kept airtight closed). As a general rule, once the Churna jar is opened, it should be finished within 2 to 4 months.
