Mensta Syrup: Uses, Ingredients, Dose, Side Effects

Syrup is a proprietary Ayurvedic medicine manufactured by Dabur Healthcare Products. It is a non-hormonal anti-spasmodic menstrual modulator.

Mensta Syrup is a poly herbal, liquid oral formulation having multi-faceted pharmacological actions.

Pharmacology of Mensta Syrup

Asoka, Vasaka – Uterine tonic, anti-oxytocic.
Shunti & Mustaka – Anti-inflammatory.
Jeeraka – Phytoestrogenic.
Krishna jeeraka, Ajamoda & Hingu – Anti-spasmodic.
Triphala – Anti-oxidant.
Dhataki & Amra – Styptic and astringent.

Indication of Mensta Syrup

Dysmenorrhea
DUB
PCOS

Dosage

2 tsp twice a day for 3 cycles.

How long to use?
This product can be used for a period of 2 – 3 months of time, based on your doctor’s advice. 

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

Ajamoda – Ptychotis ajowan – 48 mg
Shunti – Zingiber officinale – 48 mg
Amalaki – Embelica officinalis – 48 mg
Vibhitaki – Terminalia bellerica – 48 mg
Haritaki – Terminalia chebula – 48 mg
Musta – Cyperus rotendus – 48 mg
Jeeraka – Cuminum cyminum – 48 mg
Vasaka – Adathoda vasica – 48 mg
Pippali – Piper longum – 48 mg
Ghrita kumari – Aloe barbadensis – 24 mg
Daruharidra – Berberis aristata –  24 mg
Rakta chandana – Pterocarpus santalinus – 24 mg
Amra – Magnifera indica – 24 mg
Neelakamala – Nymphea stellata – 24 mg
Hingu – Ferula asafoetida – 10 mg
Madhu – Honey – 200 mg

Side effects of Mensta Syrup

There are no known side effects with this medicine. However, it is best to use this medicine under medical supervision. Store in a cool dry place, away from sunlight. Keep out of reach and sight of children. Seek your doctor’s advice for its usage during pregnancy. This product can be safely used during lactation period and in children for a limited period of few weeks time.
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are diabetic. In diabetic patients, only if the blood sugar is under good control, then this medicine can be given.
