Madhuri Cough Syrup: Uses, Ingredients, Dose, Side Effects

Madhuri Cough Syrup is a proprietary Ayurvedic medicine manufactured by Rudradeo Pharmaceuticals. It is a distinctive natural cough controller. It is a balanced and effective formulation to provide instant and long term relief from all the signs and symptoms of cough & cold.

Madhuri Cough Syrup provides multi-prolonged actions like- anti-allergic, demulcent, broncho-dilator, soothing, anti-tussive and expectorant.

Dosage

Children – 10 – 15 drops.
Adults – 1 – 2 tsp twice or thrice a day. or as directed by the physician.

How long to use?
This product can be used for a period of 2 – 3 months of time, based on your doctor’s advice. 

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

Each 10 ml contains extracts of –
Yastimadhu – Licorice – Glycyrrhiza  glabra – 150 mg – Good expectorant, expels phlegm from the lungs and helps in relieving respiratory tract diseases.
Banapsa – Viola odorata – 50 mg
Talisapatra – Abies webbiana – 50 mg – It is aromatic, appetizer, expectorant and mildly laxative. 
Somavalli – Sarcostemma acidum – 50 mg
Ajamoda – Ptychotis ajowan – 50 mg
Draksha – Grapes – Vitis vinifera – 50 mg
Haridra – Turmeric – Curcuma longa – 50 mg – It has immuno-modulatory action.
Kusta – Indian costus root – Saussurea lappa – 50 mg – It is a famous Ayurvedic herb used in treating gout, skin diseases, respiratory disorders etc.
Triphala – 200 mg Amla – Gooseberry – Embelica officinalis
Haritaki – Chebulic myrobalan – Terminalia chebula
Bibitaki – Baheda – Terminalia bellerica – 200 mg
Tulasi – Holy basil – Ocimum sanctum – 75 mg – It balances Kapha dosha, useful to relieve excess sputum production.
Kantakari – Solanum xanthocarpum – 75 mg
Pudina satva – Mentha piperita – 2 mg – It has anti-bacterial action.
Vasa – Malabar nut – Adhatoda vasica – 300 mg – It has anti-tussive, anti-inflammatory and broncho-dilatory activities.
Soubhagya pushpa – 25 mg
Trikatu – 200 mg Shunti – Ginger – Zingiber officinale – It has anti-inflammatory and analgesic activities.
Maricha – Black pepper – Piper nigrum – It decreases sputum production. Pippali – Long pepper – Piper longum
Nilgiri taila – Nilgiri oil – Eucalyptus globulus – 0.003 ml Flavoured syrup base – q.s.

Side effects of Madhuri Cough Syrup

There are no known side effects with this medicine. However, it is best to use this medicine under medical supervision. Store in a cool dry place, away from sunlight. Keep out of reach and sight of children.   Seek your doctor’s advice for its usage during pregnancy. This product can be safely used during lactation period and in children for a limited period of few weeks time.
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are diabetic. In diabetic patients, only if the blood sugar is under good control, then this medicine can be given.
