Livoguard Syrup: Uses, Ingredients, Dose, Side Effects

Livoguard Syrup is a proprietary Ayurvedic medicine manufactured by Prakruti Remedies Pvt. Ltd. It is a pediatric preparation used in the treatment of indigestion and hepatitis.

Indication of Livoguard Syrup

Viral hepatitis
Anorexia
Indigestion

Dosage

10 ml thrice a day,
or as directed by the physician.

How long to use?
This product can be used for a period of 2 – 3 months of time, based on your doctor’s advice. 

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

Ingredients

Each 10 ml of syrup contains –
Bringaraja – False daisy – Eclipta alba –  100 mg – widely used in hair fall treatment, liver disorders, skin diseases etc.
Bhunimba – Andrographis paniculata – 15 mg – It stimulates liver.
Yavakshara – Alkali preparation made with whole plant of barley – Hordeum vulgare – 25 mg
Musta – Nut grass – Cyperus rotundus – 75 mg – Of all the herbs useful as absorbent, digestive and carminative, Musta is the best.
Guduchi – Giloy – Tinospora cordifolia – 100 mg – Improves digestion power.
Saindhava lavana – Rock salt – 25 mg
Chitraka – Leadwort – Plumbago zeylanica – 75 mg – It improves digestion power.
Apamarga – Achyranthes aspera – 75 mg
Bhumyamalaki – Phyllanthus niruri – 150 mg – It is an important liver protecting Ayurvedic herb.
Pippali – Long pepper – Piper longum – 50 mg
Haritaki – Chebulic myrobalan – Terminalia chebula – 60 mg – Useful in splenomegaly and liver diseases.
Vibhitaki – Baheda – Terminalia bellerica – 60 mg
Amalaki – Gooseberry – Embelica officinalis – 60 mg
Sariva – Indian sarsaparilla – Hemidesmus indicus – 25 mg

Side effects of Livoguard Syrup

There are no known side effects with this medicine.
However, it is best to use this medicine under medical supervision.
Store in a cool dry place, away from sunlight.
Keep out of reach and sight of children.                                             
Seek your doctor’s advice for its usage during pregnancy.
This product can be safely used during lactation period and in children for a limited period of few weeks time.
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are diabetic. In diabetic patients, only if the blood sugar is under good control, then this medicine can be given.
