Leokof Syrup: Uses, Ingredients, Dose, Side Effects

Syrup is a proprietary Ayurvedic medicine manufactured by Shree Naranarayan Ayurvedic Pharmacy. It is an herbal anti-cough formula.

Indication of Leokof Syrup

Cough
Hoarseness of throat
Bronchitis
Chest congestion

Dosage

Children – ½ – 1 tsp 3 – 4 times a day.
Adults – 1 – 2 tsp 3 – 4 times a day.
or as directed by the physician.

How long to use?
This product can be used for a period of 2 – 3 months of time, based on your doctor’s advice. 

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

Ingredients

Vasa – Malabar nut – Adathoda vasica – 200 mg – It has anti-inflammatory, anti-tussive and broncho-dilatory properties.
Karkatashringi – Pistacia integerrima – 50 mg – useful in chronic respiratory disorders.
Tulasi – Holy basil – Ocimum sanctum – 200 mg – Balances Kapha dosha, useful to relieve excess sputum production.
Yavakshara – Hordeum vulgare – 25 mg
Arka pushpa – Madar flower – Calotropis gigantea – 100 mg – Useful in respiratory disorders – cough, asthma etc. It acts as a good expectorant. Pudina arka – Mentha piperita – 10 mg
Twak – Cinnamomum zeylanicum – 40 mg
Yastimadhu – Giloy – Glycyrrhiza glabra – 100 mg – Good expectorant, expels phlegm from lungs, heals respiratory diseases.
Pushkaramoola – Inula racemosa – 25 mg
Trikatu – 100 mg
Shunti – Ginger – Zingiber officinale – useful in treatment of asthma and chronic respiratory disorders.
Pippali – Long pepper – Piper longum – useful in asthma, COPD and other respiratory diseases.
Maricha – Black pepper – Piper nigrum
Tailaparni – Nilgiri – Eucalyptus globulus – 0.005 mg
Vacha – Sweet flag – Acorus calamus – 25 mg – It has anti-microbial activity. Kulinjana – Alpinia galanga – 100 mg
Bharangamoola – Clerodendrum serratum – 50 mg – It acts as mucolytic, breaks down mucus and eases it out of lungs.
Sugar base – q.s.

Side effects of Leokof Syrup

There are no known side effects with this medicine. However, it is best to use this medicine under medical supervision. Store in a cool dry place, away from sunlight. Keep out of reach and sight of children.
Seek your doctor’s advice for its usage during pregnancy. This product can be safely used during lactation period and in children for a limited period of few weeks time.
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are diabetic. In diabetic patients, only if the blood sugar is under good control, then this medicine can be given.
