Koughwin Syrup: Uses, Ingredients, Dose, Side Effects

Syrup is a proprietary Ayurvedic medicine manufactured by Ayurwin Pharma Pvt Ltd. It is used in the treatment of respiratory disorders.

Indication of Koughwin Syrup

All types of productive & non-productive cough
Cold
Allergic bronchitis
Asthma
Whooping cough
Tonsillitis
Laryngitis
Pharyngitis
Sore throat
Rhinitis
Common respiratory infections
Bronchial congestion
Headache

Dosage

Infants – ¼ -1/2 tsp thrice a day.
Children – 1 tsp thrice a day.
Adults – 2 tsp thrice a day.
Or as directed by the physician.

How long to use?
This product can be used for a period of 2 – 3 months of time, based on your doctor’s advice. 

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

Ingredients

Each 5 ml of syrup contains –
Vasa – Malabar nut – Adathoda vasica – 600 mg – It has anti-inflammatory, anti-tussive and broncho-dilatory properties.
Tulasi – Holy basil – Ocimum sanctum – 450 mg
Yastimadhu – Licorice – Glycyrrhiza glabra – 450 mg – Good expectorant, expels phlegm from lungs and relieves respiratory tract diseases. Talisapatra – Abies webbianna – 450 mg – It is aromatic, appetizer, expectorant and mildly laxative. 
Ashwagandha – Indian ginseng – Withania somnifera – 300 mg – It improves immunity.
Amrutha  – Giloy – Tinospora cordifolia – 300 mg – It is a well known immuno-modulator herb used in the correction of auto-immunity.  Pushkaramoola – Inula racemosa – 240 mg – It has anti histaminic and broncho dilatory effect.
Bharangi – Blue glory – Clerodendrum serratum – 240 mg
Kantakari – Solanum xanthocarpum – 240 mg – Useful in treatment of asthma and chronic respiratory disorders.
Twak – Cinnamomum zeylanicum – 150 mg
Haridra – Turmeric – Curcuma longa – 300 mg – It has immuno-modulatory properties.
Shunti – Ginger – Zingiber officinale – 240 mg – useful in asthma, COPD and other respiratory diseases.
Maricha – Black pepper – Piper nigrum – 240 mg
Pippali – Long pepper – Piper longum – 240 mg – It has anti-microbial, anti-mycobacterial properties.
Peppermint – 50 mg
Madhu – Honey – 50 mg

Side effects of Koughwin Syrup

There are no known side effects with this medicine. However, it is best to use this medicine under medical supervision. Store in a cool dry place, away from sunlight. Keep out of reach and sight of children.            
Seek your doctor’s advice for its usage during pregnancy. This product can be safely used during lactation period and in children for a limited period of few weeks time.
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are diabetic. In diabetic patients, only if the blood sugar is under good control, then this medicine can be given.
