Encof Cough Syrup: Uses, Ingredients, Dose, Side Effects

Encof cough Syrup is a proprietary Ayurvedic medicine manufactured by Millennium Herbal Care. It is used in the treatment of respiratory disorders such as cold, cough and Asthma.

Ingredients of Encof Cough Syrup:
Each 5 ml contains extracts of –
Vasaka – Adathoda vasica – 350 mg
Yastimadhu – Glycyrrhiza glabra – 300 mg
Kantakari – Solanum xanthocarpum – 300 mg
Amalaki – Embelica officinalis – 250 mg
Tulasi – Ocimum sanctum – 50 mg
Haridra – Curcuma longa – 50 mg
Pippali – Piper longum – 50 mg
Somavalli – Sarcostemma acidum – 50 mg
Shunti – Zingiber officinale – 50 mg
Banaphsha – Viola odorata – 50 mg – It is used in treating cough, asthma, fever with burning sensation, bodyache etc. It is used as an ingredient in many herbal cough syrups. One of its chemical components – Cycloviolacin O2 has anti-cancer potential.
Kankola – Piper cubeba – 25 mg – Kankola- Piper cubeba is a herb mentioned in the ayurvedic pharmacopoeia for the treatment of cough, swelling, dysmenorrhea, erectile dysfunction and indigestion. In Ayurveda, it is used as the legal substitute for Musk.
Talisapatra – Abies webbiana – 10 mg

Indications

Indication of Encof Cough Syrup:
All types of productive and non-productive cough of varied aetiology
Smoker’s cough
Sore throat
Cough associated with allergy
Common cold.
Mild to moderate bronchial and allergic asthma
COPD

Dose

Dosage of Encof Cough Syrup:
Adults – 2 teaspoon  3-4 times a day.
Children -3-12 years – ½-1 tsp 3-4 times a day or as directed by Ayurvedic physician.

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine or as directed by the physician.

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

How long to use?
This product can be used for a period of 2 – 3 months of time, based on your doctor’s advice.

Side effects

Side effects of Encof cough Syrup:
There are no known side effects with this medicine.
However, it is best to use this medicine under medical supervision.
Store in a cool dry place, away from sunlight.
Keep out of reach and sight of children.
Seek your doctor’s advice for its usage during pregnancy.
This product can be safely used during lactation period and in children for a limited period of few weeks time.
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are diabetic. In diabetic patients, only if the blood sugar is under good control, then this medicine can be given.
