Ascoret Capsule: Uses, Ingredients, Dose, Side Effects

Ascoret Capsule is a proprietary Ayurvedic medicine manufactured by Retort Pharmaceuticals. It is an Ayurvedic  medicine for effective sugar control in diabetic patients.  

Ingredients

Ingredients of Ascoret Capsule:
Each capsule contains-

  • Ekanayakam [Salacia reticulata] – 50 % – Also known as Saptachakra is an Ayurvedic herb which is used to treat diabetes, obesity, piles, dysmenorrhea, hepatomegaly and localized swelling associated with pain.
  • Guduchi satva [Tinospora cordifolia] – 15 % – Guduchi Satva is an herbal powder, used in Ayurvedic treatment of burning sensation of feet, bleeding diseases etc. It is prepared from stem of a well known plant called Indian Tinospora. It is also known as Giloy Sat, Amrita Satva and Giloy Satwa.
  • Amalaki [Embelica officinalis] – 10 %
  • Haridra [Curcuma longa] – 10 % – turmeric
  • Gokshura [Tribulus terestris] – 10 %
  • Jambu [Syzygium cumini] – 5 % – Jamun is a very important Ayurvedic herb. Jamun seeds are mainly used in Ayurveda treatment. Among other things, it is especially beneficial in controlling blood sugar levels in diabetics. India was previously called as Jambudveepa. An Island where Jambu trees are abundant. Its botanical name is Syzygium cumini or Eugenia jambolana or Myrtus cumini. It belongs to Myrtaceae. It is also known as Jamoon and Jambul.

Processed in Nimba swarasa [Azadiracha indica] -neem juice extract and & Karavellaka [Momordica charantia] – bitter gourd for better therapeutic advantage.

Indication

Indication of Ascoret Capsule:
As an adjuvant in diabetes & diabetes related complaints.

Dose, duration of use

Dosage of Ascoret Capsule:
1 capsule thrice a day, or as directed by the physician.

How long to use?
It can be taken for a period of 2 – 3 months with gradual decrease in dosage.

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine or as directed by the physician.

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

Side effects, package, shelf life

Side effects of Ascoret Capsule:
There are no recorded side effects with this medicine.
Over-dosage may cause low blood sugar levels. For this reason, this product should be taken under medical supervision.
Take this medicine only in the prescribed dose for the prescribed period of time.
Store in a cool dry place, in an air tight container, away from direct sunlight.
Keep out of reach and sight of children.

Presentation & Package: Blister pack of 10 capsules.
Shelf life or expiration date: 3 years from the date of manufacture.
