Arthrella Tablet: Uses, Ingredients, Dose, Side Effects

Arthrella Tablet is a proprietary Ayurvedic medicine manufactured by Charak Pharmaceuticals.  It is a comprehensive anti-arthritic medicine to relieve pain and inflammation.

Ingredients

Ingredients of Arthrella Tablet:
Each tablet contains-

  • Swarna patra – 0.05 mg – immuno-modulator & anti-arthritic.
  • Extracts of Shallaki [Boswelia serrata] – 100 mg – anti-inflammatory & analgesic.
  • Nirgundi [Vitex negundo] – 500 mg – anti-inflammatory & analgesic.
  • Shyonaka [Oroxylum indicum] – 223.8 mg – anti-oxidant & anti-inflammatory.
  • Musta [Cyperus rotendus] – 100 mg – anti-oxidant & anti-inflammatory.
  • Shunti [Zingiber officinale] – 50 mg- anti-oxidant & anti-inflammatory.
  • Shuddha Kupilu [Purified Strychnos nuxvomica] – 25 mg – sedative & analgesic.
  • Parasika yavani [Hyoscyamus niger] – 3 mg – sedative & analgesic. – Henbane – Hyoscyamus niger Linn is a famous herb used for treating intestinal and stomach spasms. Its leaves and leaf oil is quite commonly used in Ayurvedic treatment. But care should be taken to avoid over-dosing this important herb.
  • Eranda taila [Ricinus communis] – 3 ml – exerts immuno-modulatory effect & increases bone strength.

Uses

Indication of Arthrella Tablet:
Rheumatoid arthritis
Polymyalgia rheumatism
Non-articular rheumatism
Soft tissue rheumatism
Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis
Sero-negative arthritis.
Post viral fever, when the patient complains of body, muscle and joint pains
Bursitis,  
Bursitis trochanterica,
Shoulder dislocation pain

Dose, duration of use

Dosage of Arthrella Tablet:
1 tablet thrice a day, or as directed by the physician.

How long to use?
It can be taken for a period of 2 – 3 months with gradual decrease in dosage.

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine or as directed by the physician.

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

Do’s, don’ts

Do’s:-

  • Consume light nutritious & freshly prepared food.
  • Barley, horse gram, long gourd, bitter vegetables like- bitter gourd, bitter variety of drum stick are recommended.
  • Practice regular light exercise with expert supervision.
  • Regular fomentation with hot water is advised.
  • Prefer hot water for drinking and taking bath.
  • Protect yourself from exposure to cold, wind and rain.

Don’ts:-

  • Avoid food that causes constipation and heaviness in stomach.
  • Avoid pulses and fried food items.
  • Avoid consumption of ice cold water.
  • Avoid going to bed immediately after meals.
  • Avoid day time sleeping or spending sleepless nights.
  • Avoid suppression of natural urges.
  • Avoid climbing staircase without proper support.
  • Avoid standing at one place for long duration.
  • Avoid over eating.
  • Avoid alcohol, smoking and aerated beverages.
  • Avoid spicy, oily, frozen food items and sour foods such as curd and pickle.
  • Avoid excessive mobilization of the affected joints.

Side effects, package, shelf life

Side effects of Arthrella Tablet:
There are no recorded side effects with this medicine.
Over-dosage may cause gastritis, heart burn symptoms in people with sensitive stomach.
This product should be strictly taken under medical supervision.
Take this medicine only in the prescribed dose for the prescribed period of time.
It is best to avoid this product during pregnancy and lactation.
Store in a cool dry place, in an air tight container, away from direct sunlight.
Keep out of reach and sight of children.
