Arjuna Tablet: Uses, Ingredients, Dose, Side Effects

Arjuna Tablet is a proprietary Ayurvedic medicine manufactured by Sri Sri Ayurveda. It is a cardiac tonic. Bark of Arjuna is good for heart.

Benefits of Arjuna Tablet:

  • Arjuna owing to its cold potency promotes cardiac functioning and provides nutrition to the heart muscles, there by strengthening it.
  • It corrects the disbursed heart rhythms and brings down the heart rate.
  • This is effective in treating oedema.
  • Arjuna lowers the chances of formation of blood clots and reduces nervousness and stress.
  • It averts the hardening of the blood vessels there by preventing strokes & heart attacks.
  • It is anti-inflammatory, and fastens the healing of wounds specially the diabetic ulcers it brings about easy clotting of blood and hence is helpful in bleeding disorders.

Ingredients

Ingredients of Arjuna Tablet:
Each tablet contains-

  • Arjuna [Terminalia arjuna] – 500 mg -Can you imagine an herb which is anti oxidant, reduces cholesterol, reduces BP and useful in diabetes, all at the same time? – Terminalia arjuna it is.
  • Methyl paraben sodium – 2 mg
  • Propyl paraben sodium – 1 mg
  • Excepients – q.s.

Uses

Indication of Arjuna Tablet:

  • Obesity
  • Ulcer
  • Heart disease
  • Cough due to weakness or emaciation
  • Urinary disorder/polyuria
  • Thirst
  • Chloasma of face.

Dose

Dosage of Arjuna Tablet:
1-2 tablets , or as directed by the physician.

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine or as directed by the physician.

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

Side effects, package, shelf life

Side effects of Arjuna Tablet:

  • There are no recorded side effects with this medicine.
  • It is best to take this under medical supervision.
  • over dosage may cause symptoms of low blood pressure.
  • Store in a cool dry place, in an air tight container.
  • Keep out of reach and sight of children.

Presentation & Package:  Bottle of 60 tablets.

Shelf life or expiration date: 3 years from the date of manufacture.

What is the difference between Arjuna tablets and ghan vati Or vati?
Tablet and vati are same. It is usually prepared with Arjuna powder or its extract. Dose is 500 mg – 1,000 mg – once or twice a day.
Ghanavati is prepared with water extract of Arjuna. Here, Arjuna Kashaya (herbal tea) is prepared and then it is converted into tablet.  Dose is 1,000 mg once or twice a day.

    After taking 2 Arjuna tabs (himalaya) this morning, I experienced lightheadedness besides feeling week. Is that possible, should I stop taking this medicine?
