Alpitone Syrup: Uses, Dose, Ingredients, Side Effects

Alpitone Syrup is a proprietary Ayurvedic medicine manufactured by Zandu Pharmaceuticals. It is a well-known haematopoietic. 

Ingredients

Ingredients of Alpitone Syrup:

  • Ashwagandha [Withania somnifera] – 200 mg
  • Guduchi [Tinospora cordifolia] – 25 mg
  • Shunti [Zingiber officinale] – 25 mg
  • Bala [Sida cordifolia] – 50 mg – Sida cordifolia or Country mallow is known as Bala in Ayurveda. The word Bala refers to strength. This herb is used to increase strength of body. Bala is an ancient Ayurvedic herb, used widely in a variety of Ayurvedic medicines and oils to improve strength of bones, muscles and joints. Its botanical name is Sida cordifoloia, of Malvaceae family. Some use Sida retusa also in the name of Bala.
  • Shatavari [Asperagus racemosus] – 50 mg
  • Draksha [Vitis vinifera] – 50 mg
  • Chitraka [Plumbago zeylanica] – 50 mg
  • Gokshura [Tribulus terrestris] – 50 mg – Tribulus is known as Gokshura in Ayurveda. It is an ancient herb, used since thousands of years for its immense medicinal qualities. Its botanical name is Tribulus terrestris. Tribulus, in modern day, is used for body building, to relieve diseases of uro-genital system and as an aphrodisiac. It belongs to Zygophyllaceae family.
  • Rasna [Pluchea lanceolata] – 50 mg

Indication

Indication of Alpitone Syrup:

  • Loss of appetite
  • Fatigue
  • General debility
  • Malnutrition

Dose

Dosage of Alpitone Syrup:
Adults – 2 tsp twice or thrice a day.
Children – 1 tsp twice a day.

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine or as directed by the physician.

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

Side effects, package

Side effects of Alpitone Syrup:
There are no recorded side effects with this medicine.
Store in a cool dry place, in an air tight container.
Keep out of reach and sight of children.
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are diabetic. In diabetic patients, only if the blood sugar is under good control, then this medicine can be given.

Pet bottle of 200 ml & 500 ml.
