Broncorid Syrup: Uses, Dose, Ingredients, Side effects

Broncorid Syrup is a broad spectrum herbal cough syrup for chronic bronchitis and emphysema. It is a proprietary Ayurvedic medicine manufactured by Dabur Pharmaceuticals. Broncorid syrup is a unique herbal combination of drugs, which manifests anti-histaminic, anti-inflammatory, mucolytic, expectorant and bronchodilator effect.

Broncorid Syrup has been enriched with Shirisha twak, which has Disodium cromoglycate like activity.

Benefits of Broncorid Syrup:
Albizzia lebbeck inhibits degranulation of mast cells, synthesizes reaginic type antibodies and has a pharmacological action like disodium cromoglycate.
Solanum xanthocarpum increases FEV1 by 65%, anti-allergic.
Gokshura acts as a bronchodilator.
Yastimadhu is an anti-inflammatory.
Pharyngeal demulcent
Karkatakashringi is an expectorant.
Vasa is a bronchodilator.
Have mucolytic, expectorant and anti-allergic properties.

Ingredients

Ingredients of Broncorid Syrup:
Each 10 ml of syrup contains-
Shireesha twak [Albizzia lebbeck] – 820 mg
Kantakari [Solanum xanthocarpum] – 630 mg
Yastimadhu [Glycyrrhiza glabra] – 450 mg
Gokshura [Tribulus terrestris] – 630 mg
Karkatakashringi [Pistacia integerrima] – 180 mg
Vasapatra [Adathoda vasica] – 180 mg
Flavored syrup base – q.s.

Indication

Indication of Broncorid Syrup:
As a prophylactic in asthma management
Breathlessness
Cough associated with bronchial asthma, allergic bronchitis
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease [COPD]

Dose

Dosage of Broncorid Syrup:
2 tsp twice daily with lukewarm water, or as directed by the physician

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine or as directed by the physician.

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

There are no recorded side effects with this medicine.
Should be taken under medical supervision
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are diabetic. In diabetic patients, only if the blood sugar is under good control, then this medicine can be given.
