Lakshadi Churnam: Uses, Dose, Ingredients, Side Effects

Lakshadi Churnam is an Ayurvedic herbal powder medicine used in the treatment of nasal bleeding, heavy periods and other bleeding disorders. It is manufactured by Arya Vaidya Sala, Kottakkal.

Uses

Uses of Lakshadi Choornam:
It is used to treat haemoptysis, nasal bleeding and haemophilia.
Also used in chest lesions – Urakshata.
It is useful in heavy periods, short menstrual cycle, menstrual bleeding with clots etc.

Action

Roga karma- urakshata, raktapitta, abhigata.
Dosha karma- kaphapittahara.
Other karma- rakta sthambhaka.

Ingredients

Ingredients of Lakshadi Churnam:
Laksha (Laccifer lacca)
Lajjalu (Mimosa pudica)

Dose

Dosage of Lakshadi Churnam:
½-1 tea spoon, 2-3 times daily, before or after food along with water, milk or honey. Or as directed by the physician.

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine or as directed by the physician.

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

Side effects, shelf life

Side effects:
There are no known side effects with this medicine.
It is best avoided in delayed periods, less menstrual bleeding (oligomenorrhoea).

Shelf life: 2 years from the date of manufacture. Once opened, it should be used within 2-4 months.
