Mahashankh Vati – Benefits, Dosage, Ingredients, Side Effects

Mahashankh Vati is an Ayurvedic medicine, used in the treatment of gastritis, indigestion, piles etc. It should only be used under strict medical supervision.

Uses and effect on dosha

Mahashankh Vati Uses: It is used in the treatment of hemorrhoids, malabsorption syndrome, dyspepsia and indigestion.

Effect on Tridosha: Balances Vata and Pitta

Dose and duration of use

Mahashankh Bati Dosage:  (150 mg) – 1 – 2 tablets 1 – 2 times a day, before or after food or as directed by Ayurvedic doctor.

How long to use: It can be used upto 1 month, based on doctor’s advice.

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine or as directed by the physician.

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

Mahashankh Vati Ingredients, How To make? 

10 g fine powder of each of
Romaka Lavana
Vida Lavana – Vida salt
Samudra Lavana – Common salt
Sauvarchala Lavana – Sochal salt
Saindhava Lavana – Rock salt
Hingu – Asa foetida
Shankha Bhasma – Bhasma of Conch Shell
Chincha – Tamarind – Tamarindus indica (Kshara)
Shunti – Ginger Rhizome – Zingiber officinalis
Maricha – Black pepper – Piper nigrum
Pippali – Long pepper fruit – Piper longum
Vali – Gandhaka – Purified and processed Sulphur
Rasa – Herbal purified Mercury
Shuddha Vatsanabha – Purified Aconitum ferox
Quantity sufficient of Water decoction each of following –
Shikhi – Chitraka – Lead Wort (root) – Plumbago zeylanica
Saikharika – Apamarga – Achyarnthes aspera
Amlavarga – tamarind, gooseberry
Nimbu – Lemon juice

Side effects

Mahashankha Vati Side effects:

There are no recorded side effects with this medicine.
It should be taken under strict medical supervision. Take this medicine only if your Ayurveda doctor has prescribed it to you.
Store in a cool dry place, in an air tight container, away from direct sunlight.
Use this medicine only till the prescribed time and in the prescribed dose only.
Seek your doctor’s advice for its usage during pregnancy, lactation and in children.
Keep out of reach and sight of children.

  1. my age 27 and i have suffering with back bones and side ribs paining when i woke up early morning it’s paining a lot and it’s constantly pain will be there full day. should I use this ? can i get any solution with this product.please reply me
