Vat Kulantak Ras Benefits, Dosage, Ingredients, Side Effects

Vat Kulantak Ras is an Ayurvedic medicine in tablet or powder form. It is used in the treatment of severe Vata diseases like epilepsy, paralysis etc. This medicine should only be taken under strict medical supervision.

Uses

It is used in the treatment of Epilepsy, paralysis, facial palsy, lumbar and cervical spondylosis.

Practitioners also use this medicine for
Lack of sleep, disturbed sleep, insomnia, fainting episodes,
Accidental brain injury, head injuries
stiffness of back, tremors and seizures of varied etiology.

Effect on Tridosha – Balances Vata.

Dosage


62.5 – 125  mg once in the morning, before or after food or as directed by Ayurvedic doctor. It is traditionally administered along with honey, ghee or Vata balancing medicines.
It is often prescribed with herbal decoction of Jatamansi root powder.

How long to use: It can be used upto 1 – 2 months based on doctor’s prescription.

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine or as directed by the physician.

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

Side Effects

There are no recorded side effects with this medicine.
It should be taken under strict medical supervision. Take this medicine only if your Ayurveda doctor has prescribed it to you.
Store in a cool dry place, in an air tight container, away from direct sunlight.
Use this medicine only till the prescribed time and in the prescribed dose only.
Seek your doctor’s advice for its usage during pregnancy, lactation and in children.
Keep out of reach and sight of children.

Can this be taken without consulting a doctor?
No. It is always best to consult your doctor before taking any herb

How long does it take to start showing results?
Depends on the dosage and other products suggested with this. Usually 1 – 2 weeks time.

Can this product be taken along with Allopathic medicines (English medicines)?
Usually it is well tolerated with allopathic medicines. However, consult your doctor for the right advice. When English and Ayurvedic medicines are advised together, it is best to take English medicine first, give a gap of half an hour and then take Ayurvedic medicines.  

Can it be used in people with diabetes?
Yes. But an eye should be kept on the blood sugar level. Your doctor should help you in this regard. This product can reduce blood sugar levels.

It is sold in plastic bottles. Is it fine? 
If the quality of the bottle material is very good, it should not be problem, if stored for a short period of time.

Can one take non vegetarian food while taking this medicine?
Yes, unless your practitioner has asked to avoid it.

Is there any Pathya (diet rules to be followed while taking this product?
No product specific diet is mentioned. If the practitioner has advised diet control based on disease, one has to follow that.

Vat Kulantak Rasa ingredients, how to make:
10 g fine powder of each of
Mriganabhi – Kasturi – Musk – The musk is used in the treatment of psychiatric disorders, neurological diseases, nausea, bad odor, strengthening cardiac muscles and respiratory diseases.
Manashila – Purified and processed Realgar (Arsenic di sulphide) – Used in Vata disorders – neurological conditions.
Nagakeshara – Mesua ferrea
Vibhitaki – Belliric Myrobalan fruit rind – Terminalia bellirica
Shuddha Parada – Herbal purified Mercury
Shuddha Gandhaka – Herbal purified Sulphur
Jatiphala – Nutmeg (fruit) – Myristica fragrans – induces natural sleep and keeps the mind calm.
Ela – Cardamom – Elettaria cardamomum
Lavanga – Clove – Syzygium aromaticum
Jala – water – quantity sufficient.
Fine powder ingredients are triturated with Water and dried.

  1. Sir soes this treat anxiety? An ayurvedic doctor has prescribed this medicine to me for generalized anxiety. Arent there better products like manasmrita vatakam for anxiety?

    My brother had a psychotic episode last year and he took English Medicine for a year. Although he is normal but still he is not properly normal he becomes confuse if much of information is given to him and Becomes easily irritable. So, now we want to switch him to Ayurvedic Medcine as it treats the ailment from root. Please suggest some Ayurvedic Medcine for psychosis.

It eliminates vaat dosha that is a culprit in mental ailments and disorders. but it alone cant do much with curing the disease, so it is given along with other medicines like manasmitra vati, brahmi vati, saraswatarishta, brahma rasyana…etc….medicine are chosen according to the disorder/ailment….and dosage is also accordingly…so yes vatkulantak play a major role in treating mental problems if vat dosha is responsible (that is quite probable)

    Self medication NOT recomended, take guidance of a vaidya who has expertise in treating mental problems.
