Brihat Saindhavadi  Taila is an herbal oil used in the Ayurvedic treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, low back pain, osteo arthritis, Gout, etc. It is used for external application, and oral administration.

Brihat Saindhavadi  Taila  Uses: 

It is used in Ayurvedic treatment of all types of arthritis, back pain, sciatica, Gout.
It is also used to relieve colicky pain of abdomen, as present in urinary calculi, etc.
Bursitis,  
Bursitis trochanterica,
Shoulder dislocation pain
Post viral fever, when the patient complains of body, muscle and joint pains

Precaution if you apply this oil over feet:
If you apply this oil on feet, make sure to wash off thoroughly with water or wipe off with cloth. The oil can make you slippery while walking.
After applying, make sure there are no oil spills on the floor. This can make the floor slippery.

Mode Of Usage

How to use Brihat Saindhavadi Tailam?

It is used for external application.

Orally, it is given in a dose of – 3 – 6 ml, twice a day, before food, with warm milk or warm water or as directed by Ayurvedic doctor.

It is also used in Basti treatment (rectal enema).

Side Effects

There are no recorded side effects of this medicine on external application.

Oral intake and rectal enema should only be done as per doctor’s advice only.

Overdose of oral intake may lead to indigestion.

Duration

How long to use Brihat Saindhavadi oil? 

For external use, it can be used for a long period of time.

Orally and for nasal instillation it is usually not administered for more than two months.

Saindhava – Rock salt

Shreyasi – Piper brachystachium

Yamanika – Ajowan – Carum roxburghianum

Sarjika – Swarjika Kshara

Maricha – Black pepper – Piper nigrum

Kushta – Saussurea lappa

Shunti – Ginger Rhizome – Zingiber officinalis

Sauvarchala Lavana – Sochal salt

Vida Lavana – Salt

Vacha – Acorus calamus

Ajamoda – Ajowan (fruit) – Trachyspermum roxburghianum

Madhuka – Licorice – Glycyrrhiza glabra

Jeeraka – Cumin – Cuminum cyminum

Pushkara – Inula racemosa

Kana – Long pepper fruit – Piper longum

Erandataila – Castor oil – Ricinus communis – 768 ml

Shatapushpa – Indian Dill – Anethum sowa – 768 ml

Kanjika – Fermented gruel  – 1.536 liters

Mastu – Supernatent liquid of curds  – 1.536 liters

Reference and Expiry Date

Bhaishajya Ratnavali Amavata Roga Adhikara – 157 – 162

Expiry date: 3 years from the date of manufacture. Once you open the seal, it is better to use it within an year.

During pregnancy, lactation

If you were using this oil before pregnancy without any allergic reaction, you can continue using this oil even during pregnancy.
If you have not used this product before and wish to use it during pregnancy, better to consult a doctor because it can cause skin allergy in some rare cases.
It is generally considered as safe to use during lactation, however consult your doctor for the right advice.

Can this product be applied after steam therapy?
No. Oil is best applied before steam therapy. This is as per basic Ayurvedic principles.
