Samudradi Churna – Benefits, Dosage, Ingredients, Side Effects

Samudradi Churna is an Ayurvedic medicine, in herbal powder form.  It is used in Ayurvedic treatment of abdominal pain, indigestion, liver and spleen diseases.

Uses

Samudradi Choorna benefits:

It is used in Ayurvedic treatment of abdominal pain, indigestion, liver and spleen diseases.

It is useful to relieve abscess and gastritis pain.

Effect on Tridosha – Calms Kapha and Vata.

Dose

Samudradi Churna dosage: 

1 – 3 grams  once or twice a day before or after food or as directed by your doctor.

It is traditionally given with buttermilk.

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine or as directed by the physician.

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

Side Effects

It is best avoided in pregnant and children.

It should be taken by lactating mother only under medical supervision.

Accidental overdose in children should especially be avoided.

It is best avoided in people with high BP, since it contains salts.

It contains Kshara. It is best avoided in men seeking infertility treatment. Since Kshara tends to lower the quality of sperm.

Samudradi Choornam Ingredients: 

10 grams fine powder of each of

Samudra Lavana – Salt

Saindhava Lavana – Rock salt

Yavakshara – Hordeum vulgare

Svarji Kshara

Ruchaka Lavana

Vida Lavana

Danti moola – Baliospermum montanum

Lauha Raja, Kitta Bhasma – Iron Bhasma

Trivrit – Operculina turpethum

Surana –  Amorphophallus dubius

The fine powder of above herbs is ground with Dadhi (Curds), Gomutra (Cow urine) and Cow milk, and dried.
