Kulathadi Kashayam is an Ayurvedic medicine used to induce menstruation in women in cases of secondary amenorrhoea and cryptomenorrhoea. This medicine is based on Kerala Ayurveda principle.
Kulathadi kashaya benefits:
It is used to induce menstrual flow in cases of amenorrhoea, cryptomenorrhoea.
For women with low menstrual flow, this product is suggested to take during periods.
For women who get periods very lately (once in 45 days, etc), it is suggested to take throughout the month in low dose.
It is useful in Gulma (Abdominal colic pain due to distention and tumor)
Constipation and bloating
High cholesterol levels, correcting lipid profiles
Effect on Tridosha – Balances Vata at the level of uterus.
A high dose of this medicine may lead to excessive menstrual bleeding.
This medicine should be taken under strict medical supervision.
Usage During Pregnancy
This product is to be avoided during pregnancy as it increases body temperature and increases chances of uterine bleeding.
While trying for pregnancy:
This product can be taken while trying for pregnancy. It is used by AYurveda practitioners in conditions like PCOS, delayed periods, scanty periods etc.
Dose and Adjuvant
Kulathadi kashayam dosage:
- 5 – 10 ml, before food, or on empty stomach, once or twice a day or as directed by Ayurvedic doctor.
- If the kashayam is concentrated, then it needs to be mixed with equal quantity of water and should be taken.
Kantabhasma or Chavarkaram orSukumaragritham.
With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine or as directed by the physician.
Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.
With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?

How long does it take to start showing results?
Depends on the dosage and other products suggested with this. Usually 1 – 2 weeks time.
Can this product be taken along with Allopathic medicines (English medicines)?
It may react with some medicines. Consult your doctor for the right advice. When English and Ayurvedic medicines are advised together, it is best to take English medicine first, give a gap of half an hour and then take Ayurvedic medicines.
Can it be used in people with diabetes?
Yes. But an eye should be kept on the blood sugar level. Your doctor should help you in this regard.
