Thoothuvalai Chooranam is a classical Siddha medicine in powder form manufactured by SKM Siddha & Ayurveda Company India Ltd., Erode- Tamil Nadu. It is best for respiratory diseases.

Ingredients

Ingredients of Thoothuvalai Chooranam:
Thoothuvalai – Alarka – Solanum trilobatum – 10 %
Chittraraththai – Sugandhimoola – Alpinia calcarata – 10 %
Peraraththai – Rasna – Alpinia galanga – 10 % – It is a herb mentioned in Ayurveda for the treatment of pain, indigestion, gout, cough and general debility.
Thesaviram/thippili moolam – Pippali moola – Long pepper root – Piper longum – 10 % – It is hot, useful in asthma, indigestion, bloating, anorexia, cold, cough, low metabolism etc.
Kostam – Kusta – Sausurrea lappa – 10 % – It is a famous Ayurvedic herb used in treating gout, skin diseases, respiratory disorders etc. 
Chevviyam – Chavya – Piper chaba – 10 %
Chukku – Shunti – Ginger – Zingiber officinale – 5 %
Milagu – Maricha – Black pepper – Piper nigrum – 5 %
Thippili – Pippali – Long pepper – Piper longum – 5 % – It has anti-mycobacterial, immuno-stimulant, anti-oxidant and anti-microbial activities.
Thaaleesa paththiri – Talispatra – Taxus baccata – 5 % – It is aromatic, appetiser, expectorant and mildly laxative.
Lavangam/kirambu – Lavanga – Clove – Syzygium aromaticum – 5 %
Vaal milagu – Kankola – Piper cubeba – 5 %
Kantankaththiri – Kantakari – Solanum surattense – 5 % – It is a very useful Ayurvedic herb, used widely in the treatment of cough, cold, asthma and such other respiratory tract conditions.
Vazhuthunai – Bruhati – Solanum indicum – 5 % – It is widely used in treating respiratory disorders.

Indication

Indications of Thoothuvalai Chooranam:

  • Very effective in irumal [cough/bronchitis]
  • Kaasam
  • Iraippu [spasm/wheezing]
  • Kshayam [emaciation/TB].

Dose

Dosage & Adjuvants of Thoothuvalai Chooranam:
1 – 2 g with hot water after food, 2 – 3 times a day.
Or as directed by the physician.

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine or as directed by the physician.

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.
