Zefs Syrup is a proprietary Ayurvedic medicine manufactured by Zandu Pharmaceutical Works Ltd. It is used in the treatment of Common cold.
Zefs Cough Syrup Ingredients
Each 5 ml contains in mg of
Vasa – Malabar nut – Adhatoda vasica – It has broncho-dilatory, anti-tussive, anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties.
Yashtimadhu – Licorice – Glycyrrhiza glabra – 200 mg – Good expectorant, expels phlegm from lungs and heals respiratory diseases.
Kantakari – Solanum surattense – 200 mg – Used widely in the treatment of cough, cold, asthma and such other respiratory tract conditions.
Chavya – Piper chaba – 10 mg – It balances Kapha, useful in productive cough, asthma etc.
Karkatashringi – Pistacia chinensis – 10 mg – Useful in asthma, bronchitis, cough, chronic respiratory diseases.
Dusparsha – Tragia involucrata Linn – 10 mg
Bharangi moola – Clerodendrum serratum – 10 mg – Acts as mucolytic, breaks down mucus and eases it out of lungs.
Rasna – Pluchea lanceolata – 10 mg
Karchura – Curcuma zedoaria – 10 mg – It has Anti fungal, Anti-amoebic, Analgesic, Anti-allergic, Anti-ulcer, Anti inflammatory etc. properties.
Chitraka moola – Plumbago zeylanica Linn – 10 mg
Mustha – Cyperus rotundus – 10 mg
Shunti – Ginger – Zingiber officinale – 10 mg – It balances Kapha, useful in productive cough, asthma etc.
Maricha – Black pepper – Piper nigrum – 10 mg – Useful in treatment of asthma and chronic respiratory disorders.
Pippali – Long pepper – Piper longum – 10 mg – It relieves chronic lung disorders, tuberculosis, asthma, COPD and other respiratory diseases.
Indications
Common cold,
Respiratory tract infections,
Rhino-pharyngitis, bronchitis.
Dosage
1 – 2 tsp thrice a day.
Or as directed by the physician.
With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine.
Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.
With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

There are no known side effects with this medicine.
However, it is best to use this medicine under medical supervision.
Store in a cool dry place, away from sunlight.
Keep out of reach and sight of children.
Seek your doctor’s advice for its usage during pregnancy.
This product can be safely used during lactation period and in children for a limited period of few weeks time.
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are diabetic. In diabetic patients, only if the blood sugar is under good control, then this medicine can be given.
