Sudarsanasavam Ingredient, Uses, Preparation, Dosage

Sudarsanasavam is an Ayurvedic medicine used extensively in the treatment of all types of fever and its associated symptoms such as weakness, cough, body pain and so on.

Ingredients

Jaggery – 4.8 kg
Dhataki – Flowers – Woodfordia fruticosa – 384 grams – It acts as fermenting agent.
Haritaki – Terminalia chebula – 10 grams
Vibhitaki – Terminalia bellirica – 10 grams
Amalaki – Emblica officinalis – 10 grams
Turmeric – Curcuma longa –10 grams – It is the best anti inflammatory herb.
Dharuharidra – Berberis aristata – 10 grams
Brihati – Solanum indicum – 10 grams
Kantakari – Solanum xanthocarpum – 10 grams
Shati – Curcuma zedoaria – 10 grams
Ginger – Zingiber officinale – 10 grams
Maricha – Piper nigrum – 10 grams
Pippali – Piper longum – 10 grams
Granthika – Piper longum – wild variety – 10 grams
Murva – Marsdenia tenacissima – 10 grams

Agantuja Jwara – Fever caused by external factors such as insect bite, injury or poisoning

Dhatugata Jwara – Fever afflicting tissues of the body
Vishama jwara – Intermittent fever
Manasa jwara – Fever due to psychological factors – stress, fear etc
Moha – Confusion
Fatigue
Giddiness
Dyspnea

Parshva shoola – Pain in the flanks

Sanskrit Verses

Method of preparation

All the above mentioned ingredients are dried and crushed to obtain coarse powder. Ingredients from chavya to pundarika are made into fine powders. These contents are mixed with water and taken in a mud vessel. Jaggery and Dhataki are added and vessel is closed with a lid. It is kept for fermentation. Contents are checked to see if the fermentation is completed, once the process is completed it is filtered through a clean muslin cloth and stored in bottle.

Dosage

Usually it is taken in a dose of 12 – 24 ml before or after food along with equal quantity of water.

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine or as directed by the physician.

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

Side effects

There are no recorded side effects with this medicine. However, it is better to consult doctor before using this medicine.
A very high dosage may cause burning sensation in stomach.

10 years from the date of manufacture.
