Vasavu Ennai: Uses, Dose, Ingredients, Side effects

Vasavu Ennai is a classical Siddha medicine in oil form manufactured by SKM Siddha & Ayurveda Company India Ltd., Erode- Tamil Nadu. It is used in inflammatory swellings.

Ingredients

Ingredients of Vasavu Ennai:
Nannari ver – Sariva – Indian sarsaparilla – Hemidesmus indicus – 100 %
Lime juice – Nimbooka swarasa – Lemon juice – Citrus aurantifolia – q.s.
Thenkai ennai – Narikela taila – Coconut oil – Cocos nucifera – q.s. – It balances vata and pitta dosha.
Vilakku ennai – Eranda taila – Castor oil – Ricinus communis – q.s. – It helps to improve blood circulation, to increase body warmth. It also helps to relieve pain and stiffness in joints.
Kumari saaru – Kumari swarasa – Aloe vera – Aloe barbadensis – q.s.

Indication

Indication of Vasavu Ennai:

  • Esivu
  • Adipatta veekkam [swelling due to trauma]
  • Varmapidippu
  • Moottu vali [joint pain]
  • Varma pulligalil erpadum adi [inflammation of Varma points].

Direction for use

Direction for use of Vasavu Ennai:
To be applied over the affected area & rubbed gently, followed by fomentation with hot water.
Or as directed by the physician.

Application on feet

Oil application over feet

Precaution if you apply this oil over feet:
If you apply this oil on feet, make sure to wash off thouroughly with water or wipe off with cloth. The oil can make you slippery while walking.
After applying, make sure there are no oil spills on the floor. This can make the floor slippery.

Side effects and package

Side effects of Vasavu Ennai:

  • There are no recorded side effects with this medicine.
  • For external application only.

Bottle of 100 ml & 500 ml.

During pregnancy, lactation

If you were using this oil before pregnancy without any allergic reaction, you can continue using this oil even during pregnancy.
If you have not used this product before and wish to use it during pregnancy, better to consult a doctor because it can cause skin allergy in some rare cases.
It is generally considered as safe to use during lactation, however consult your doctor for the right advice.

Can this product be applied after steam therapy?
No. Oil is best applied before steam therapy. This is as per basic Ayurvedic principles.
