Maththan Thailam is a classical Siddha medicine in oil form manufactured by SKM Siddha & Ayurveda Company India Ltd., Erode- Tamil Nadu. It is used to treat various skin disorders.

Ingredients

Ingredients of Maththan Thailam:
Oomaththan elai saaru – Dhattura – Datura metel – 54 % – It improves skin quality, helps in quick wound healing, detoxifies skin and relieves itching, pain and inflammation etc.
Thenkai ennai – Narikela taila – Coconut oil – Cocos nucifera – 22 % – It quickens and helps in filling up of skin depression in wounds.
Kasthuri manjal – Aranyaharidra – Curcuma aromatica – 22 % – Useful in skin and blood vitiation disorders. 
Thurusu – Thuttha – Copper sulphate – 2 %

Indication

Indication of Maththan Thailam:

• Padai [eczema]
• Sori [itch]
• Sirangu [scabies]
• Viranangal [ulcers]
• Kasiyum padaigal [weeping eczema]
• Vedippu [fissures]
• Ozhugum viranangal
• Oonvalarthal [putrified ulcers]
• Used also in ear ache accompanied by discharge of pus [kadhu punnil seezh vadith alum kadhu valiyum].
• Useful in mosquito bite scars, sun tan, white heads, sensitive skin.

Application on feet

Oil application over feet

Precaution if you apply this oil over feet:
If you apply this oil on feet, make sure to wash off thouroughly with water or wipe off with cloth. The oil can make you slippery while walking.
After applying, make sure there are no oil spills on the floor. This can make the floor slippery.

Direction for use

Direction for use of Maththan Thailam:
To be applied directly at the site of infection or applied over a cloth & then used.
Can also be used as an ear drops also.
Or as directed by the physician.

Side effects and package

Side effects of Maththan Thailam:

• There are no recorded side effects with this medicine.
• For external application only.

Bottle of 100 ml, 250 ml & 500 ml.

During pregnancy, lactation

If you were using this oil before pregnancy without any allergic reaction, you can continue using this oil even during pregnancy.
If you have not used this product before and wish to use it during pregnancy, better to consult a doctor because it can cause skin allergy in some rare cases.
It is generally considered as safe to use during lactation, however consult your doctor for the right advice.

Can this product be applied after steam therapy?
No. Oil is best applied before steam therapy. This is as per basic Ayurvedic principles.
