Lavana Gunathi Ennai: Uses, Dose, Ingredients, Side effects

Lavana Gunathi Ennai is a classical Siddha medicine in oil form manufactured by SKM Siddha & Ayurveda Company India Ltd., Erode- Tamil Nadu. It is used in chronic debilitating diseases.

Ingredients

Ingredients of Lavana Gunathi Ennai:
Kalluppu – Saindhava lavana – Sodium chloride, sodium sulphate & sodium hydroxide – 28 % – It relieves indigestion, anorexia, constipation, bloating etc.
Valaiyal uppu – Vida lavana – Sodium chloride & sodium sulphate – 28 % – It causes Vata Dosha to move in normal direction, eases constipation. Pottiluppu [vediuppu] – Sauvarchala lavana – Potassium nitrate – 28 % – It relieves abdominal colic, constipation, abdominal tumors, bloating etc.
Savukkaram – Sugandha kokila – Sodium hydroxide – 5.34 %
Akkiraharam – Karakarabha – Anacyclus pyrethrum – 5.34 % – It is a herb mentioned in Ayurveda for the treatment of the diseases of the oral cavity, indigestion, swelling, sore throat, cough and diseases caused due to the predominance of vata dosha like paralysis, tremors etc.
Sutham seitha nervalam – Jayapala – Croton tiglium – 5.34 % – It is a plant mentioned in Ayurveda for the treatment of alopecia, erectile dysfunction, ascites, severe constipation and to induce purgation.
Thenkai paal – Narikela – Coconut – Cocos nucifera – q.s.
Villakku ennai – Eranda taila – Castor oil – Ricinus communis – q.s. – It expels vitiated Doshas from lower part of the body (Virechana).

Indication of Lavana Gunathi Ennai:

  • Moolam
  • Povuthiram
  • Asanavedippu
  • Purgative oil for natpatta noikal [chronic debilitating diseases].

Application on feet

Oil application over feet

Precaution if you apply this oil over feet:
If you apply this oil on feet, make sure to wash off thoroughly with water or wipe off with cloth. The oil can make you slippery while walking.
After applying, make sure there are no oil spills on the floor. This can make the floor slippery.

Direction for use

Direction for use of Lavana Gunathi Ennai:
1 – 2 ml at night time after food daily or a certain period according to the severity of the diseases.
Or as directed by the physician.

Side effects and package

Side effects of Lavana Gunathi Ennai:
There are no recorded side effects with this medicine.
Should be taken under medical supervision.

Presentation:
Bottle of 10 ml, 50 ml & 100 ml.

During pregnancy, lactation

If you were using this oil before pregnancy without any allergic reaction, you can continue using this oil even during pregnancy.
If you have not used this product before and wish to use it during pregnancy, better to consult a doctor because it can cause skin allergy in some rare cases.
It is generally considered as safe to use during lactation, however consult your doctor for the right advice.

Can this product be applied after steam therapy?
No. Oil is best applied before steam therapy. This is as per basic Ayurvedic principles.
