Herbitar Tablet: Uses, Ingredients, Dose, Side Effects

Herbitar tablet is a proprietary Ayurvedic medicine manufactured by J & J Dechane Laboratories Ltd. It is used in the treatment of liver disorders. Herbitar Tablet is a combination of Ayurvedic drugs consisting of bitter & other active principles for loss of appetite, sluggish liver, biliousness and constipation.

Indication of Herbitar Tablet

Hepatic disorders
Indigestion
Flatulent dyspepsia
Loss of appetite
Constipation
Jaundice
Disorders of bile flow
Early cirrhosis of liver
Hepatic damage due to antibiotics, oral contraceptives or other drugs.

Dosage

Adults – In the 1st week 2 – 3 tablets before meals.
A course of treatment of 3 weeks is suggested.
In 2nd& 3rd week 1 tablet before principal meals twice or thrice a day.
Children – Half the adult dose.
Or as directed by the physician.

How long to use?
This product can be used for a period of 2 – 3 months of time, based on your doctor’s advice. 

With Other Medicines

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

Ingredients

Each uncoated tablet contains –
Manjista – Indian Madder – Rubia cordifolia – 56 mg – It is a famous herb for blood detoxifying.
Mishreya – Fennel seed – Foeniculum vulgare – 31 mg – It has cholagogue action and improve the function of the liver.
Kiratatikta – Swertia chirata – 79 mg – It improves appetite and rid the body of toxic substances.
Bringaraja – False daisy – Eclipta alba – 34 mg – It is known for its therapeutic action in enlargement of liver & spleen. It is used in catarrhal jaundice for maintaining the integrity and normal function of the liver cells. It has also been used in the cirrhosis of the liver.
Swarnapatri – Indian Senna – Cassia angustifolia – 17 mg
Nagakeshara – Cobra’s Saffron – Mesua ferrea – 9 mg – It is used as an astringent and stomachic.
Kaiphal – Bayberry – Myrica nagi – 5 mg – It is an aromatic and astringent.
Haritaki – Terminalia chebula – 7 mg – It is used in flatulence, colic and enlarged spleen and liver.
Dhanyaka – Coriander – Coriandrum sativum – 18 mg – It is aromatic, stimulant, carminative and stomachic.
Guggulu – Commiphora mukul – 17 mg – It is used as intestinal disinfectant and as carminative.
Haridra – Turmeric – Curcuma longa – 17 mg
Shunti – Ginger – Zingiber officinale – 4 mg – It improves digestion strength.
Ajamoda – Ajwain – Ptychotis ajowan – 6 mg
Amalaki – Indian gooseberry – Embelica officinalis – 2 mg
Pippali – Long pepper – Piper longum – 2 mg
Jeeraka – Cumin seed – Cuminum cyminum – 2 mg – It improves digestion strength and taste.

Side effects of Herbitar Tablet

There are no known side effects with this medicine.
However, it is best to use this medicine under medical supervision.
Store in a cool dry place, away from sunlight.
Keep out of reach and sight of children
Seek your doctor’s advice for its usage during pregnancy.
This product can be safely used during lactation period and in children for a limited period of few weeks time.
