Kunthalakanthi Thailam is an Ayurvedic medicine manufactured by Arya Vaidya Sala, Kottakkal. This is an excellent hair oil, prevents hair loss and greying of hair.
Uses
Uses of Kunthalakanthi Tailam:
This oil is a herbal hair rejuvenation which can be used daily to prevent hair loss and greying of hair. It is also helpful to keep dandruff in check. Cools the head and eyes.
No scents are used as in other hair oils, and is harmless even if used liberally for better results. Encourages dense growth of hair. Has a sweet fragrance.
Ingredients
Ingredients of Kunthalakanthi Tailam:
Amalaki (Embelica officinale)
Vibhitaki (Terminalia bellerica)
Bringaraja (Eclipta alba)
Ushira (Vetiveria zizanoides)
Musta (Cyperus rotendus) – improves lactation, relieves fever, burning sensation, excessive thirst. Commonly known as nut grass, it is also used in treating diarrhea, dyspepsia, herpes and more.
Neeli (Indigofera tinctoria) – Indigo or Indigofera tinctoria is used for the treatment of fever, liver and spleen disorders, rheumatoid arthritis, gout, grey hairs etc.
Tila taila – sesame oil
Narikela taila – coconut oil
Direction for use
Direction for use of Kuntalakanti Tailam:
Apply oil on the head by rubbing it in to the scalp with the fingers. Let it stay on the head for 1 hour before taking bath. Do this at least twice a week.
This oil can also be used for daily application.
How to wash off the
hair oil?
Wait for at least 30 minutes
before washing hair. Longer the delay, better (except for very oily hairs). It
is best to use herbal hair wash powders to wash off the hair oil. One or two
rounds of wash with hair wash powder will get rid off oil from hair. It is very
fine, even if some amount of oiliness remains on the hair.
Traditional treatises mention cold water to wash hair and face. (Reference:
Ashtanga Sangraha, Sutrasthana, Dinacharya chapter). But to wash oily hair,
lukewarm water can also be used. Avoid very hot water for hair wash.

Shelf life of Kunthalakanthi Tailam: 3 years from the date of manufacture.
Presentation: Bottle of 200 ml.
During pregnancy, lactation
If
you were using this oil before pregnancy without any allergic reaction, you can
continue using this oil even during pregnancy.
If you have not used this product before and wish to use it during pregnancy,
better to consult a doctor because it can cause skin allergy in some rare
cases.
It is generally considered as safe to use during lactation, however consult
your doctor for the right advice.
Can
this product be applied after steam therapy?
No.
Oil is best applied before steam therapy. This is as per basic Ayurvedic
principles.

Can you leave this oil on your hair for more than one day?
No madam, If you wish to improve the quality of hair, to promote hair growth, to prevent early grey hairs, and split hairs, etc, it is better to apply hair oil at night and take warm water head bath on the next day morning.
Leaving the Hair oil on the day, is not desirable because, the oil may attract dust over the hairs, when you go out in Sun.
Hello Doctor, your website having many good articles. I would say, it is one of the best. One small question please. Is this oil good for hair regrowth? I dont want to use hair oil which contains dhatura or Anjana (Lead sulphate) or any other toxic substance, even in minute quantity. Kuntalakanti coconut oil is prepared with coconut oil base.
