Mrityunjaya Rasa – Benefits, Dosage, Ingredients, Side Effects

Mrityunjaya Rasa is an Ayurvedic medicine in tablet form. It is used in the treatment of all types of fever. This medicine should only be taken under strict medical supervision.

Uses

It is used in the treatment of fevers.

  • In all types of Fevers, it is given along with honey.
  • In Vata type of fever, predominated by bodyache, it is given along with watery portion of curds.
  • In Chronic fever, affected by Tridosha, it is administered along with Ginger juice extract.
  • In fever associated with indigestion, it is given along with lemon juice.
  • In Intermittent fever (Vishamajwara), it is given along with Cumin seeds and jaggery.
  • In case of fever of recent origin, and in fever with predominance of Vata and Pitta, associated with severe burning sensation all over the body, it is administered along with sugar candy,and  tender coconut water.

Effect on Tridosha – Balances Vata and Kapha.

Dosage

250 mg once or twice a day, before or after food or as directed by Ayurvedic doctor.

How long to use: It can be used upto 1 – 2 months based on doctor’s prescription.

With western medicines
Seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other western (allopathic/modern) medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine.
If both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines are advised together, then it is best to take allopathic medicine first, wait for 30 minutes and then, after a gap of 15 – 30 minutes, take Ayurvedic medicine or as directed by the physician.

Can this be used while taking Homeopathic medicine?
Yes. This product does not react with homeopathic medicine.

With supplements like multivitamin tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids etc?
Yes. Generally, this product goes well with most of the dietary supplements. However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.

Side Effects

Self medication with this medicine may prove to be dangerous, since it contains Mercury as ingredient.
Take this medicine in precise dose and for limited period of time, as advised by doctor.
Over-dosage may cause sever poisonous effect.
It is best avoided in pregnancy, lactation and in children.
Keep out of reach and sight of children. Store in a dry cool place.

10 g fine powder of each of
Shuddha Vatsanabha – Purified Aconitum ferox
Maricha – Black pepper – Piper nigrum
Pippali – Long pepper fruit – Piper longum
Shuddha Gandhaka – Herbal purified Sulphur
Tankana Bhasma – Borax
Shuddha Hingula – Purified and processed Cinnabar (Mercury compound) – 20 g
OR
Shuddha Parada – Herbal purified Mercury – 20 g
Fine powder of ingredients are triturated with juice extract and made into paste form, pills are prepared.
